Shad Fishing for Bass

Remember when bass fishing was simple and fun? Now everything has gotten so commercial you have to compete to see who has the most expensive boat and who has the biggest horse. Let me tell you something, I've caught more fish already in a flat bottom aluminum boat than most people will catch in a lifetime. You don't need a twenty or thirty thousand dollar boat to go fishing. There's only two requirements for a boat - it has to float and it has to be safe. Other than that, things like depth finders, gps, etc. ainâ??t really necessary but just good to have. The main thing you have to remember about fishing is to have fun. Having said all this, Letâ??s go!

There are many ways to bass fish, without having to spend a lot of money. I will be taking you on one of the easiest and funnest trips you can go on. All you need for this trip will be a cast net, a rod and reel, of course, and an anchor. During the fall, bass pile up on shallow points, road beds, and piers. So what we are going to do today is fish points about four to ten feet deep. The only catch to this is you have to have shad, which can be located by watching the water. When you see shad popping the top of the water, throw your net into this big ole pile of bait, throw them into a livewell or tank and you are ready to go. Once you get the shad you are ready to find a good point to fish. Long tapering points are the best, or any point that has a depth change in close proximity to where you want to anchor your boat. I have found it to be better if you stay in about five to six feet of water, casting toward the bank and making a complete circle around the boat. This is an easy and fast way to find a lot of bass piled up together. If you catch one, you will probably catch a bunch. Keep throwing back to where you caught the first fish because bass like to group up, especially in the fall. This tactic will work just about any time of the year but fall seems to be the best. When I say fall what I mean is October through November. These fish cannot resist live bait. If this fails to work for you, try moving in or out of shallow water with your trolling motor or with the wind if you don't have a trolling motor.

Now that you know what to do lets talk about rigging your bait. The only thing you need is a hook or a hook and cork. I have found it better to use a brown or cork colored cork, but red and white will work too. The shad has nose holes. Stick the hook through one nose hole and out the other. This will help keep the shad alive. It is very important to do everything you can do to keep your bait lively. There are many ways to keep your bait alive, but the easiest way is salt and ice. About a 1/4 cup of salt added to your bait tank and 1 bag of ice will really help. Even a pump of some sort that keeps the water moving will help greatly. Keeping your bait alive will become easy the more you do this type of fishing.

This is probably the most productive type of fishing you will ever do because every fish in the lake will eat a shad. I have caught bass, stripe, catfish, drum, etc on shad and it is one of my favorite ways of fishing. I do this during the hottest part of summer in the creeks fishing for saltwater stripe. My personal best is 31 lbs but that is another story.
Give this a try and let me know if it works for you. Best of luck!

Beginners guide to buying a handgun

Preparing to buy your first handgun can be quite daunting. They aren't cheap, new handgun prices range from $250.00 to 2,500.00. And to complicate the matter even further there are many different manufactures and choices. I tell people in my carry permit course that there are as many different types of handguns as the manufacturers can talk people into buying. And what is probably the most confusing to someone new to this field, is the fact that for every make and model of handgun there are 3 gun magazine writers telling there readers that that particular brand or caliber or gizmo is the best, and 4 others saying that the gun in question will get the reader killed.

Yesterday I was asked my opinion about Glock. I said that what I thought didn't matter; it wasn't my money or my safety on the line. My preferences do not matter in the decision to buy your gun. My wife likes Glocks; I feel the same about revolvers. Our preferences differ, and as long as you know your gun, why you chose it, and it fits your needs then it's the best gun for you. Now, that being said lets discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the two main types of handguns, semi-automatics and revolvers.

Revolvers

Revolvers are a type of pistol that has a rotating cylinder containing a number of firing chambers. They typically hold 5 or six rounds, each held in its own firing chamber. They are generally cheaper to purchase than a semi-automatic, with a new one from a major manufacturer such as Taurus or Rossi being in the neighborhood of $250.00. The major benefits of this type of handgun include:

· ¨Easier to learn to manipulate, because there is generally fewer functions than a typical semi-auto.
· ¨Easier for weaker handed persons to operate. This is due to the lack of a slide.
· ¨More reliable
· ¨More choice of ammunition
· ¨Not as training intensive as a semi-automatic pistol (more about this later).

I prefer revolvers for home defense, as a home protection weapon will be stored loaded for an extended period of time. This is because they have fewer moving parts, which in turns makes them less sensitive than semi-automatics to a lack of cleaning and maintenance. I also recommend them for someone who is not going to train as intensively as recommended, because this type of handgun has fewer functions to remember. In order to manipulate a revolver, one only has to operate the trigger and the cylinder release, whereas a semi-automatic pistol generally has a trigger, a magazine release, a slide lock, and at least one safety lever.

Revolvers do have disadvantages, and it is because of these disadvantages that police departments around the county have changed from them to semi-automatics. These disadvantages should be understood if the reader wishes to make a decision, therefore I will list them:

· Slower to reload than the typical semi-automatic.
· Sometimes harder to conceal, due to width of cylinder.
· Normally not as many rounds (5-6rds compared to 8 or 10rds in a semiautomatic.)

Because a revolver contains separate chambers for each round, to fully load a revolver the operator must put a round in each chamber (6 actions for 6 rounds). To fully load a semi-automatic the operator has to insert a single magazine into the pistol (one action for multiple rounds).

Semi-Automatic

Semi-Automatic pistols fires a single cartridge each time the trigger is pressed. It automatically extracts the spent casing and prepares to fire another round. A semi-automatic is sometimes called automatic, the difference being that in a true automatic can fire multiple rounds per trigger press. This seemingly small difference can cause tens of thousands of dollars in fines and years of time in federal penitentiaries, so be sure to know the difference. A semi-automatic holds its rounds in a single device a magazine (it is possible to offend some hard-line gun enthusiasts by calling a magazine a clip). This magazine is normally inserted into the grip of the handgun. These handguns are the most popular, and they are that way for many reasons, some of the most recognized reasons are:

· Holds many rounds compared to a revolver. Normally a semi-auto magazine holds 8 to 10rds, but there are magazines capable of holding 15 to 30.
· Faster reloads.
· Due to popularity, there is a wider choice of accessories such as holsters available.
· Easy carrying of spare ammunition via preloaded magazines
· Easier to conceal due to thinner action than a normal revolver.

It is due to the amount of rounds easily carried upon ones person in magazines, and the amount of rounds in the pistol that caused the semi-automatic to replace the revolver in the arming of our nations police. What has kept it there is the different features that are possible in a semi-auto. A police force or a private user can decide the type of safety devices or modes of operation that they want in a firearm and buy a brand that has those features. While this is a benefit it also can become a drawback, the reasons for this are:

· Very training intensive. Before one begins to carry a self-defense semi-automatic it is recommended that the user fire 2 or 3 thousand rounds of the type of ammunition they intend to carry in their firearm in order to fully understand the function of their firearm.
· More complex. That means more prone to failure. While modern firearms and ammunition can fire thousands of rounds without malfunction, it can and does happen.
· More expensive than a revolver.
· Harder for people suffering from arthritis or of weaker stature to manipulate slide.
· More sensitive to ammunition type. Some types of semi-automatics are more prone to jam with certain types of ammunition, which is another reason it is suggested to train with the type of ammunition you intend to carry.

The semi-auto type of firearm is very well represented in the world of guns. Because of this sales popularity there are many different functions and characteristics. Comparing this is like comparing pickup trucks to cars, there are many brands of pickups (revolvers), but generally they all are basically the same. In the car (semi-autos) world, they have sedans, sports cars, wagons, convertibles, limousines, economy class, and luxury designs. You can buy a vehicle or a firearm based only upon an arbitrary reason such as looks, what the marketing hype in a gun magazine tells you, or popularity. You may also buy a tool such as this by deciding your needs and weighing your options. I don't know what you need so I cannot tell you what to buy.

Deer Blinds or Ladder Tree Stands: Which Work Best for Deer Hunters

At my blog, I have been asked several times about deer hunting from ground blinds versus ladder deer hunting tree stands and which worked better.

I have tried both ground deer blinds and ladder tree stands. Iâ??ve had great deer hunting success using both.

Marty Prokop on Deer Hunting Ladder Tree Stands

There are many brands of deer hunting ladder tree stands available for deer hunting.

You can choose a single-person ladder tree stand, two-man ladder tree stand, tripod ladder tree stand, four-legged ladder tree stand and even fully enclosed shooting house ladder tree stand.

I prefer the larger platform, shooting and side rails and overall comfort of the two-man deer hunting ladder tree stand. Personally, I feel safer using a two-man tree stand, even though I deer hunt with one person in the tree stand.

A ladder tree stand is a little harder to conceal than a portable deer hunting tree stand. Try to place your deer hunting tree stand at least one month or longer, if you are able, prior to when you plan to deer hunt from it. Always check your state and local deer hunting regulations prior to placing any tree stands in your deer hunting area.

Marty Prokop Secret for Picking the Right Tree

Place your ladder tree stand so the ladder and tree stand platform are concealed by brush or small saplings but will still allow you to access the ladder safely.

I find a tree that is strong enough for my deer hunting tree stand with smaller trees clustered around it. I secure my deer hunting tree stand platform to the large tree in the center of the tree cluster. I position it so the smaller trees camouflage â?" or break up the visual pattern of â?" my deer hunting tree stand.

Use camouflage burlap or other camouflage material to drape your deer hunting platform. I actually make â??wallsâ?? of camouflage material. My tree stand looks like it is a camouflage house.

The camouflaged walls help conceal movements when you are sitting in your tree stand and will provide a wind break. Make sure the material does not affect your ability to climb into your deer hunting tree stand safely.

If there are no tree clusters available, then I choose a tree with low hanging branches that the deer hunting tree stand platform can sit above. Having the platform of your deer hunting tree stand above some branches will help break up the outline of the platform when a deer looks up at the tree. Drape the shooting platform and the shooting rest with camouflage burlap for added concealment.

Ladder tree stands, set up properly, will allow you to sit longer and more comfortably, which could help you bag a big buck.

How Marty Prokop Uses Deer Hunting Blinds

Deer hunting blinds can be very effective tools in helping you tag a deer or big buck. Always consult your state and local hunting regulations to see if deer hunting from a deer blind is legal for your area.

In prior deer hunting seasons I constructed deer hunting ground blinds from vegetation and downed trees. Deer moved in fairly close to the blinds made of natural items found in the deer hunting woods. As a result, many deer were tagged from these homemade blinds.

During the most recent deer hunting season, I opted to try one of the pop-up style deer hunting blinds.

One nice feature about most pop-up deer hunting blinds is being totally sheltered from the elements. You can sit in rain, snow and windy conditions and stay warm and dry. The longer you are able to comfortably sit in one place, the more likely you are to tag a big buck deer.

There are many styles of pop-up deer hunting blinds on the market today.

What Marty Prokop Looks For in a Deer Blind

Look for a deer hunting blind with a dark interior and scent-blocking liner. The dark interior helps shadow a deer hunter while sitting in the blind. The scent-blocking liner will help, but not totally prevent, human odor from contaminating the deer hunting area.

Choose a pop-up deer blind that has large, shoot-thru camouflage mesh windows. This will let you see deer as they approach and help conceal your movements inside the deer blind.

Whether using a portable deer hunting blind or building a deer blind from natural materials you find on your deer hunting land, always set up your deer hunting blind at least two months before deer hunting season begins. This allows deer in the area to become accustom to it, and they move about in more normal patterns providing you a chance at a perfect shot.

Marty Prokop Deer Hunting Blind Special Tip

Most pop-up deer hunting blinds I have researched give the option of using the shoot-through mesh to cover the window opening or having an open window.

This past deer hunting season I used both options. On certain days I would unzip the deer blind windows and not place the camouflage mesh over openings. On other days I would open the deer blind windows and cover them with the camouflage mesh.

Deer were spooked by the large black hole created by having the deer blind windows open without the camouflage mesh. When the window openings were covered with the camouflage shoot-through mesh, I saw more deer at closer ranges.

Poker networks â?" a great place to shop

You only have to enter a couple of related poker words into Google to find a whole plethora of poker sites, with over 250 or so, offering various promotions, products and marketing strategies to tempt you into joining their games and becoming part of their poker community.

But if you are just about to set out, new to the game of online poker, what will you look for when you shop around for one of the many poker product sites available?

Well, of course the first thing you are attracted to is the label or brand name offering the product. Just like you may shop at your local store for common household goods, you may employ the same methods when shopping for an online gaming product, like poker. The brand name is what identifies the product. You may have seen the brand name being advertised somewhere, so if you are familiar with it, you are more likely to trust it.

Some of the more popular brand names like William Hill and Ladbrooks are familiar to us primarily for sports betting. But with sites like these now having a casino and poker gaming channel, they are beginning to establish themselves as trustworthy players in the online gaming world. With big sites like Party Poker and 888 also throwing a lot of money behind marketing campaigns and tournaments, it is easy to see how fast they have established themselves as forerunners in online casino and poker.

But just as we all like to purchase the more popular brand names, it is those great bargains that we like to shop around for. Spotting a great offer and walking away with a great product at a lower price fills us all with delight. And so just by digging a little deeper into Google or Yahoo, you will be able to find more variety of poker products, with more bonus offers and various tournaments available.

Shopping for online poker will begin just like normal, with a spot of window shopping. Enter a few words such as poker games, poker online or UK poker into Google and boomâ?¦ lots of â??shopsâ?? and products to choose from. However, just browsing a few pages deeper than the usual 2, 3 or 4, will result in far more sites than the usual big brand names. Sites like VIP Poker Club and Virgin Poker are also becoming more household names and beginning to establish themselves as places to play in a safe and secure environment. You may see sites like these popping up amongst results as they become ever more popular.

Once you have opened up a poker site to take a further look into the product, you are first attracted to the graphic/colour scheme and layout of the site. If these are not simple to understand, or pleasing to the eye (just like the labels on a product in the store), you are likely to be turned away. But donâ??t stop there. Why not try the product out before you buy it? Sites like VIP Poker offer an interactive poker school and also allow you to preview games before you start playing. This is a good way to search for a product and test it out.

One good way to shop is by going to a chain store. There you will find many brands under one roof. From the more popular established brands to newly available brands and niche products. Just like shopping at a chain store for electrical goods, you can shop at an online poker network for a variety of poker brands. Sites like IPNPoker provide a multitude of brands to suit your taste and needs. Whether you want to feel like a VIP club member or want to be part of a more fun-based brand, there is always a site and tournament available to suite your taste and level of play.

Playing as part of a network has its benefits over the single site products such as Party Poker or 888. While the numbers of players online are likely to be similar, the range of player (and language of player) is likely to be broader and more varied, and with a network, there will always be a tournament available for beginners and professionals alike. No more waiting around for a tournament to begin (â??like waiting in queues to pay for your chosen productâ??).

St Minver, who operate the IPN Poker network, said its networks are now hosting 30,000 cash players a day, with up to 7,500 concurrent players on its sites at peak times. This is likely to be fuelled by the introduction of a number of high-profile household brands and launches into Sweden, Spain and Russia.

The International Poker Network site shows revenue growth of 20% in 2006. The number of poker players on IPNPoker increased by 27% in 2006. This shows that playing as part of a network is proving ever popular. Being able to meet players of different languages from all over Europe, test the product out before your buy and shop around for the great bargains all under one roof is a good reason to become part of an online poker network.

Best Self-Defense Handgun

Handguns can simply be defined as small and compact weapons for self-defense purposes. Handguns for sale have seen a tremendous rise in the past few years. They can be held and fired from the same hand and are small as far as size is concerned. The best handgun for self defense is scientifically designed as a weapon for self-protection, which can be easily carried and used in dire situations. Choosing a self-defense gun isn't as easy as you might have thought because you will have to answer to the following questions: ? The laws in your jurisdiction regarding firearms ownership - some of the best guns you can use for home defense are illegal in many jurisdictions; ? Whether you have children or not in your home; ? Whether or not other people in your household may have to use the gun selected; ? The "social environment" in which you live - urban, suburban, or rural? House or apartment building; ? Your level of experience with firearms in general, and the particular gun you are considering purchasing. Along with the gun purchase, a gun holster should also be on your shopping list for the following reasons: ? It protects the gun when not in use; ? The chances of the gun getting stolen is reduced if it is kept in a holster; ? It acts as a hand gun safe; ? It protects the gun from getting damaged; ? It provides easy accessibility to the gun when needed. The revolving pistols also known as revolvers are one of the best in the handguns category as they have multiple utility, the main features of a revolver includes safety, accuracy, strength and various types of cartridges that can be loaded in it, making it a very versatile weapon. These advantages of revolver make it an ideal choice for self-defense purposes. One of the most popular handguns for self-defense purposes is the Smith & Wesson Model 640 Revolver. This J-frame revolver went through several iterations before the final version was brought out for purchasing purposes. It was first introduced in 1990 as a .38 Special revolver with either a 2-inch or 3-inch barrel. The 3-inch barrel was discontinued after 3 years. In 1993, a newer version was also introduced that fired 9mm Parabellum using moon clips - this was known as the S&W Model 940, and it was discontinued in 6 years later, in 1999. In 1996, the .38 Special models were changed to fire .357 Magnums and .38 Special, and the barrel was lengthened to 2.125 inches. In all of the above mentioned versions, the revolver has a stainless steel frame, cylinder, and barrel, and has a shrouded hammer and double-action-only operation. This classic revolver is available in three hammer designs - the "Chiefs Special" with exposed hammer, the "Centennial" frame with fully enclosed hammer and the "Bodyguard" frame shrouded hammer. The price is under $600 and the gun is worth every single dollar. Here are the revolver's specifications: ? Caliber: .357 Magnum®/.38 S&W Special +P ? Capacity: 5 Rounds ? Barrel Length: 2-1/8" ? Front Sight: Pinned Black Serrated Ramp ? Rear Sight: Fixed Notch ? Firing System: N/A ? Grip: Uncle Mike's Combat ? Trigger: .312" Smooth Target ? Hammer: Internal ? External Safety: N/A ? Frame: J-Small ? Finish: Satin Stainless ? Overall length: 6-9/16" ? Material: Stainless Steel ? Weight Empty: 23 ounces All things considered, this is the perfect handgun for self-defense purposes as shooting magnum loads with this it is quite easy and the accuracy is quite remarkable for such a small weapon. The gun's popularity serves as a living proof that this S&W model should be a top choice for self-defense. Summary: This article reviews the Smith & Wesson Model 640 Revolver along with instructions about choosing the most suitable handgun for self-defense purposes.

What you need to know about Golf

GOLF In recent times, golf has earned a significant number of spectators and players who love and appreciate the game. The credit goes to all time Golf greats like Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Lorena Ochoa and many more, who have helped spread its popularity worldwide. There are several tournaments like the Maters, The British Open, The US open and the PGA championship, which are held in different parts of the world. These abovementioned tournaments are considered to be the grand slams for men in the world of Golf. However, championships like LPGA Championship, the Du Mauier Classics are the grand slam tournaments for women. So, what is Golf all about? Golf is a game in which a player uses different clubs such as the putter, irons and drivers; hits the ball into each hole of the golf course with the lowest possible number of strokes. History of Golf: The meaning of the word ?golf' is to strike or cuff. This word was first mentioned in writing, in the year 1457 in Scottish statute. However, it may have a Dutch origin as well and thus; the origin of the word and the game is still a debatable topic. Still, the most accepted theory is that it originated in the 1100s in Scotland. It really started gaining popularity among people in the 18th century and this was when people made St. Andrews Society of Golfers. William Mayne was the first to create a golf club in the year 1603. Although the idea of golf clubs was later changed when people like Andrew Dickson, and Henry Mill improved the club scene by developing carved wooden heads. Golf balls were created by James Melville. He made customized leather balls stuffed with feather for James I. In the year 1848, Adam Paterson came up with golf balls made of gutta-percha, a substance that is found in India. These hard balls were good to play with but some scratches on them helped in better play. This concept then evolved into the new age ball with dimples spread over its surface. How to begin? A golfer begins with a tee towards the fairway and aims at a strip of land with bushes, grass, and trees on the edge. To make the game more interesting and challenging for a player many golf courses have artificial hazards. Right at the end of the fairway, you see a smooth area with putting grass where the hole is located. And it's the aim of the golfer to hit the ball into these holes. Golf clubs and strokes Golf shots are divided into two kinds, they are; the approach and the drive shot. The drive is the long shot that is done from the tee where as when the ball is much closer to the hole, the shot taken is called the approach shot. Different clubs are used for different shots depending on the type of shot golfer wants to play as well as the distance from the hole. To put it plainly, the game of golf is a very simple sport, which is only hard to play at first. Having said this, it's also a game that millions of people follow religiously, and whether you want to play or watch, all you need to do is head out to your local links and start swinging! Airsoft Guns

Airsoft guns may soon be going the way of real guns around the world, even in the US. Built to resemble actual weapons, Airsoft guns instead shoot pellets and are used in several games much like paintball. These games range from freeform death match style in which all the players are basically out for themselves and anything goes, to team play that resembles war games. Although pellets are used instead of bullets or paintballs, getting hit can still result in a nasty sting and a lingering wound.

Complaints against Airsoft guns have come from a number of quarters. For instance, the University of Hawaii at Manoa has banned Airsoft guns. Despite that ban?or, indeed, perhaps because of it?the campus was the site of a series of assaults on students by someone using an Airsoft pellet gun. Even so, much of the uproar has less to do with the damage done by the pellets and more with the construction of the guns themselves.

Airsoft guns can take the form of handguns or larger rifles and they can look remarkably realistic. It is this realism that has raised questions of safety, not the actual damage done by the pellets. Recently in Florida, a middle school student was shot by police after he brandished a weapon at them. The weapon turned out to be a pellet gun, though it was never established whether or not it was actually an Airsoft gun. From a distance, Airsoft guns definitely resemble the real thing and this has certainly led to a move to ban them.

In light of the calls to ban what are essentially toys, it?s quite ironic that the rise of Airsoft popularity began in Asian countries where access to real firearms is difficult. The realistic look of the guns contributed to the popularity of the games in which they used, lending them a certain reality that older style pellet guns simply didn?t have. Eventually, the craze pushed westward and took up residence in Europe and America. With the lax gun control laws in America, these Airsoft guns are much more dangerous. While it?s unlikely that a large group of young people in Japan or England would be walking around openly carrying real guns, the police in America don?t have the luxury of second guessing. If a policeman sees a gun that looks real he simply has to assume that it is real, especially when pointed at him.

The answer, clearly, doesn?t have to be outright banning of Airsoft guns. Since even accidental victims of pellet shots often admit that getting shot by one of them isn?t terribly painful, it seems rather ridiculous to ban these guns when the banning of real handguns are impossible. Rather, why not just make them less realistic? That doesn?t necessarily entail stripping the Airsoft guns of all realism, but would it hurt to redesign them subtly so that it is obvious they aren?t actual handguns?

The cost of realism in a game hardly seems worth the price of a life.

Which golf clubs should you buy?

With so many different makes and types of golf clubs on the market, it is no wonder beginners, let alone the more experienced golfer, can become easily confused when it comes to buying clubs. Well, here are a few things to consider on your next trip to the golf store for new clubs. First, are you between five and six feet tall? Then standard clubs will most likely work for you. And it doesn't matter if you are male or female, the general rule applies. There are enough standard clubs on the market that you should be able to find ones to suit the rest of your needs in a golf club. If you are outside the heights for standard clubs then you may want to look at getting custom made clubs made for you. Cast or forged iron clubs. Which? Cast iron is the normal route to take when buying new clubs. Why, you ask? Very simply because standard cast iron clubs tend to have a larger "sweet spot". The is the best spot on the club face that will give you the maximum range and accuracy on a shot A larger sweet spot gives you a larger striking area. You can still be a little "off center" and the ball is still struck well because you have a larger margin of error. This makes cast iron clubs ideal for anyone who wants a more consistant shot., especially beginners. Until their swing plane is more developed, they will have an easier time striking the ball on a consistant basis. This is the major reason why you see larger or even "oversized" clubs made, especially the oversized drivers today. These clubs allow for a larger sweet spot and make the game a lot easier for the average player With forged iron clubs you have the exact opposite. A smaller sweet spot that makes your drives that much harder to hit well. So why would people buy a forged iron golf club? For a very simple reason. cast iron is a softer metal that offers a better "feel" on a shot. The better players, on the other hand, will give up that larger sweet spot [and even some distance] to get that better feel of each and every shot they take. With a more consistant swing they usually strike the ball dead center on most shots anyway. With the better feel of the forged iron, they can draw, fade, hook or slice the ball deliberately when circumstances on the golf course require it. The next consideration is the material for the shaft. Steel or composite? The important thing to look at here is your club head velocity. Any typical Sunday golfer will generate a club speed of 80 to 94 mph. With speeds registering lower than that, you ought to think of using a composite style of shaft on your clubs . With a slower swing speed comes less distance on your drives. Less distance means more shots needed to reach the putting green. Not a good thing if you want to lower your score. Composite shafts will allow you to get that much needed distance on your shots. And even within the composite shaft class, you will find variations in flex and materials that will affect your game. For those of you with faster swing speeds, and subsequenlty good distances, steel shafted clubs will give you a lot more control on your shots. This is very similar to the advantages of iron over cast clubs. You can find out your own swing speed by looking for a golf store that has a velocity speed gun or a radar gun package. It won't cost you much and you will know very quickly which type of shaft is best foy you. You can even find some battery operated doppler radar devices on the market that you can set up and use to determine your club velocity. With merely these few starting tips, it is normally best if you rent a few different sets of clubs as you play and take note of how each club helps or hampers your game. You are seeking to ascertain your individual strong points or weaknesses. Try out the diverse types and varieties of golf clubs available at your local golf course or in a nearby town and see what you can learn. You will soon determine the best approach to improving your personal score. Never stop understanding and tweaking your own golf game.

The Untold History of the Howa 1500 Rifle

The Untold History of the Howa 1500 Rifle
By: Jeff Tilkens

Howa has always maintained a great reputation for making good rifles, and the 1500 Series is no exception. To study the Howa rifles you must first start by studying the company itself, and then you can look at the many versions of the Howa 1500.

In 1907, Toyodaâ??s Loom Works, LTD. was created. Toyodaâ??s Loom Works manufactured and sold textile sewing looms. As the company grew, they started manufacturing spinning machinery. In 1916, Toyodaâ??s Loom Works officially commenced the manufacturing of the spinning machinery followed by the manufacturing of cast steel in 1935. In 1941, Toyodaâ??s Loom Works merged with Showa Heavy Industries, Ltd., a manufacturer of machine tools. The company became Howa Heavy Industries, Ltd. Four years later the name was changed to what is still known as Howa Machinery LTD.

Over the years Howa Machinery began manufacturing air chucks, pneumatic equipment, floor scrubbers, aluminum sound-proof windows, rodless cylinders, and vertical double-sided exposure systems for printed circuit boards. In 2000, Howa acquired the ISO 9001 certification in the machine tool accessories and firearms divisions.

Howa is best known for their Howa Rifles. The Howa rifle outshoots well-known rifles costing hundreds more than the Howa 1500 rifle. Howa firearms are known to be the most accurate rifle right out of the box. Ideal for hunting, target shooting, or plinking, the Howa M-1500 rifles, give you the Howa accuracy you are looking for. Featuring rugged durability and dependable quality craftsmanship, the Howa 1500 rifle is built to get the job done.

The two Howa rifles that I find to be their best are the Howa 1500 combo package and the Howa 1500 Sporting Rifle. The Howa/Knoxx Axiom 1500 Combo Package Rifle comes with a Nikko Platinum 4-16 x 44 scope and is a great rifle at a great price. This rifle combines the integrity success of the Howa 1500 Rifle with the proven Knoxx Industries Axiom V/S rifle stock and the Nikko platinum 4-16 x 44 scope. Chambered in a 223 Remington caliber with a 24-inch heavy barrel and adjustable length of pull from 11.5 inches to 15.5 inches, the Howa 1500 rifle Knoxx Axiom Combo package is a huge value to any hunter or target shooter.

The second rifle I found to be a great value was the Howa 1500 Sporting Rifle. It is a good looking rifle, with its nutmeg wood thumbhole stock. The Howa 1500 Sporting Rifle features a flared pistol grip and scalloped thumbhole that ensures a comfortable grip and precise trigger control. A 24-inch barrel and blue steel finish complete the professional camouflage look of this useful rifle. Chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum and featuring a three-position safety and 8.4 pound weight, the Howa 1500 Rifle is going to give you that Howa accuracy and dependability you are looking for.

The Truth Behind Phoenix Arms

Phoenix Arms pistols are some of the best selling handguns on the market, mainly due to the cost effective design of their product lines. Taking their name from the history of Raven Arms, which Raven went out of business after a fire, Phoenix Arms is considered to have risen from the ashes of Raven. Phoenix Arms went as far as to purchase Raven's pistol designs. Despite the popularity of the Phoenix Arms handguns, there are still a lot of shooters who believe that a firearm is only as good as its price tag. Phoenix only makes two types of pistols; both are semi-automatic and they vary in barrel lengths and calibers. These two firearms are chambered in twenty two long rifle, and twenty five auto. Since the trend of concealed carry has hit the majority of American states, the Phoenix Arms twenty five auto, or better known as the HP25 has been a must have for frugal concealed carry enthusiast.

Regardless of the opinions of each shooter, Phoenix Arms has done exactly what they set out to: make affordable firearms for working-class Americans. Many of the critics claim these firearms to be "Saturday Night Specials", a term coined by an anti-gun article written in the New York Times meaning that these firearms are built Monday and ready to commit crimes by Saturday. This is, of course, despite the fact that most firearms used in crimes are obtained illegally in the first place. At the time of this writing, the most commonly used firearms in murder cases are larger caliber revolvers.

Aside from popular misconceptions from both sides of the political spectrum, these firearms are here to stay and are sure to hold their market. With many other firearms manufacturers now producing similar weapons specifically for concealed carry owners, the now infamous 1970's New York Times article has little or no relevance in the point it was trying to make. For many pro-firearms enthusiasts, it's a clear case of the media demonizing weapons manufacturers to promote their own agenda.

No matter what side of the argument you happen to fall on, the firearms themselves are just as responsible for criminal activity as car manufacturers, who have people drink and drive using their products. Many have used this argument with fanatical dedication, from both the pro- and anti-firearms political spectrums, to hold the gun industry accountable for the actions of the dealer. This ideal is neglecting the fact that background checks are all federally regulated, thus putting the blame on those who regulate the transfers of firearms, which has been ignored in the majority of high-profile firearms violations.

In my opinion, the Phoenix Arms pistols are great for what they were designed for, which is cost-effective firearms for personal protection and recreational shooting. Aside from the bad reputation, these firearms are sure to stand their ground in the firearms industry for the foreseeable future. The Phoenix Arms handguns are serving a market that is as American as apple pie. The rights of American citizens are not for those who can afford it, but rather every citizen, thus making me believe there is a relevant purpose for Phoenix firearms.

Emerald Green Arborvitae Planting Instructions

Emerald Green Arborvita are easy to grow in all of Bucks County Pa. This article will help you understand this landscape plant. Arborvitae have masses of small fibrous roots which allows them to transplant at most times of the year. The Emerald Green has the best year round color, but is narrow in form. In real dry years this plant does not survive as well as the more open arbs such as the American, Techny, Nigra, and Elegantissma. This variety, because its foliage is more dense than other varieties, is less tolerant than more open cultivars. In an urban area with deer problems, this variety will be consumed before the next season. We have in stock and ready to pickup these arbs from seedlings (6-10") to 6-8' trees. Emerald Green arbs are easy to plant but a few tips will help your success. When planting, remember that the symptoms of over-watering are identical to under-watering. More trees, shrubs, and houseplants are killed from over-watering than all other problems combined. Water thoroughly upon planting then water thereafter as needed depending on soil and environmental conditions. At no time should the planting zone be kept soggy. Feel the soil with your finger to test it. It should be moist not spongy wet. The plant should be dried to the point of dampness to the touch before a complete re watering. This regime should be carried out at least through the first few months. Soil moisture should be monitored closely for the next two years with corrective action taken as needed. Fertilizer spikes should never be used. You can tell when the arbs are happy with their new location by looking at the interface of the root ball and the new location. New fibrous roots should appear within weeks of planting. You can get more information on This and other plants at the following web sites http://www.seedlingsrus.com http://www.zone5treees.com and http://www.highlandhillfarm.com About the Author Bill Has been raising and selling trees for 45 years near Doylestown Pa. and has two web sites http://www.seedlingsrus.com and http://www.zone5trees.com

LeBron James NBA Career

Born on December 30, 1984, LeBron James is an Ohio native who graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Standing 6'8" and weighing 240 lbs., James has enjoyed a number of career highlights since joining the NBA. Among his recognitions, LeBron James was named the 2003-2004 NBA Rookie of the Year, which made him the first Cavalier and youngest player to ever receive this award. In addition, he is one of only three rookies in the history of the NBA to average a minimum of 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in one season. During his high school career, LeBron James led St. Vincent-St. Mary to three state championships in only four seasons. It came as no surprised when LeBron gave up his high school football career to concentrate on basketball. His football career was successful, however, as he was named First Team All-State as a wide receiver during his sophomore season and his team progressed to the state semifinals during his junior year. In 2003, LeBron James was chosen in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was the first pick overall and has remained with the team that first introduced him into the NBA. During his rookies season, James started in 79 games and went on to become the youngest player to score 1,000 points in NBA history. In 2004, LeBron James continued his love of basketball as he became a member of the 2004 United States Olympic Team, which went on to win the Bronze Medal. During the eight games that were played during the competition, LeBron averaged 5.4 points, 1 rebound and 1.6 assists. During the 2004-2005 NBA season, LeBron James started in 80 games and was named All-NBA Second Team, which earned him the honor of being the youngest player in league history to be given All-NBA honors. His record-breaking streak continued as he surpassed the franchise record for points in a single season, became the youngest and second-fastest player to reach career numbers and became the second All-Star starter in Cavalier history. As most athletes will tell you, it takes a lot of drive and determination to succeed in any sport. In order to effectively attain their goals, most athletes look up to a role model for guidance and encouragement during both the good and bad times. For LeBron James, that man is Michael Jordan. Admittedly, James chose number 23 in honor of his role model. In addition to sharing talent and greatness, some athletes also share the same birthday. LeBron James and Tiger Woods share a December 30 birth date, which is just another sign that James is destined for greatness. Fans who would like to request a signed photo or simply send LeBron James their best wishes are urged to do so in care of his NBA franchise team. If you are requesting an autograph, be sure to include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) along with your request. Letters and requests should be mailed to: LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers 1 Center Court Cleveland, OH 44115

So You Want to be a Cheerleader and Other Tryout Tips

After anxiously dreaming, planning and waiting your chance is finally here. Word has spread about the upcoming cheerleading tryouts and youâ??re already camped out in the gym waiting. Many girls dream of the day they can strut their stuff under the stadium lights in front of a roaring crowd.

Itâ??s only a matter of time before youâ??re decked out in glitter and face paint, cheering on the boys as they near victory. To be sure your dreams donâ??t hit a road block; itâ??s probably a good idea to be as prepared as you possibly could be. All the dreaming and planning mean nothing unless you put some good old fashion work into your grand plan. Here are some great tips to get you into that uniform!

  • Shape it up: As with any sport itâ??s definitely in your best interest to be physically fit. Not only will you feel better and have a safer experience, but youâ??ll also look great in that skirt. Start off with some simple stretching exercise to warm up your muscles, and then take a nice steady jog around the track to get your heart pumping. Once youâ??re warmed-up follow with some muscle building exercises like squats, pull ups, and leg lifts. As always, itâ??s also important to follow a healthy diet.

  • Get a Clue: You would never walk into a Science test without going to class, taking notes, and studying before hand, so why would you walk into cheerleading tryouts without doing your homework? By this point in the game you probably have a cheer or two in your head so practice them in front of the mirror. To make sure youâ??re getting it right sit on the sidelines during one of the cheer practices and watch what the other girls do. Even better, talk to the coach and your soon to be cheer-mates to see if they can give you some pointers on what you should and shouldnâ??t be doing.

  • I Canâ??t Hear You: Make sure that when your practicing those awesome moves that youâ??re also paying plenty of attention to what youâ??re saying, or in this case, yelling. You need to be loud enough to get everyone in the crowd involved in cheering your team on. Not only is the volume of your voice important, but how clear you yell is also important. Those judging the tryouts want to be sure that everyone in the crowd hears and understands what youâ??re saying, so open your mouth and lungs up and cheer away.

  • Look like a Cheerleader: If you want to be a cheerleader, itâ??s important to look the part. Here are just a few things you should be pay attention to before the big day:

    • Make sure your nails are clean, trimmed, and if so desired painted.

    • Keep your hair clean, and make sure itâ??s styled in a way that will keep it out of your face and intact while your jumping around and doing stunts.

    • Itâ??s probably a good idea to wear make-up, but keep it simple; youâ??re trying out for a position as a cheerleader, not a mascot.

  • Be a Cheerleader: Youâ??ve been waiting for this day, so act like it! The judges who hold your fate in their hands want to know that their giving the opportunity to the right girl. Just because you look great, sound terrific, and have all the moves memorized doesnâ??t mean youâ??re automatically on the squad. There are tons of girls who will be trying out next to you. Show them how much you want it. Smile, be enthusiastic, be yourself, and most importantly have fun doing it!

Keep those tips in mind and youâ??ll be wearing that uniform in no time. See you on the field!

Homemade Carp Bait Recipes For Fishing Beginners!

Carp fishing is so addictive! Many carp fishing beginners would love to make their own homemade baits so here are a few proven carp bait recipes and some solid advice to give you a big fish start; from a bait maker of 30 years experience!

When you quickly realise as a beginner that carp will at least sample almost anything used as bait to a degree, even inedible items like a cork ball or a rubber fake piece of sweetcorn, you might wonder where to begin. There may appear to be no definitive answer except probably beginning with thinking like a fish and not like an angler! You will find that doing this will give you huge advantages over your fish and very many competitive advantages over fellow anglers who do not appreciate this vital aspect of carp fishing so much!

It is very true that most foods humans eat will usually be fine as carp baits with many being outstanding having a long proven record of success. When you are thinking of making a homemade bait for carp, the popular baits used for decades make a great point to start from. I will get back to thinking like a carp in a moment.

Most new anglers know worms catch fish. But there is more power in this statement than most carp anglers will appreciate! Famous UK carp angler Kevin Maddocks used very many bait formulas on the road to becoming successful. His success is also well known to be attributable very much to his outstanding ability and competitiveness as an angler. He did many trials of bait substances on captive carp in a tank in his house.

But by probably at the zenith of his fame (upon the publication of his Carp Fever book,) he was very keen to promote worm extracts in particular... It might seem that he went full circle and actually ended up using basically the same bait a complete novice fisherman would use logically to guarantee success?

Perhaps he realised that those substances carp that carp are naturally familiar with and most confidently feed upon, that have highly stimulating nutritional benefits to carp, providing essential dietary requirements too, are one of the most logical avenues of bait substances to exploit?

Many bait enthusiasts have seriously gone down the route of researching proteins sources, amino acids and peptides, how they are detected by carp, and how they are digested even. However, under actual fishing conditions, despite years of trials, relatively few absolute conclusions about what is actually top of the list of substances to be used in carp baits have been reached. But why is there almost a fixation among most carp anglers with protein levels in particular, used in their baits.

If farming for profit is your goal, then things are much simpler, and a balanced complete pelleted diet food source with a biologically digestible protein content usually ranging from above 25 to 45 percent, for example, is well proven to produce profitable carp growth rates for fish farmers.

Carp have a basic essential dietary requirement for nitrogen and a variety of amino acids of various forms and carp need these rather than whole proteins per se according to many leading fish science sources. Carp are very sensitive to the water soluble elements of proteins and many other substances in solution, such as mineral salts. These and others certainly induce various intensities of feeding behaviours, and differing rates of feeding, or at least bring carp into range of your carp bait, in an excited mode of behaviour. The more you can get your carp to actually at least mouth your baits, the higher your chances of hooking one!

Many anglers get confused about protein in attracting carp and the ideal protein type of bait profiles used to feed carp, using a modern balanced diet in farming for profit. The 2 are not identical, and in fact there are many other substances that induce intense feeding responses in carp. The amino acids from whole protein ingredients in carp baits, such as caseins or fish meals for example are very significant indeed in the evolution of carp baits, especially in the UK for instance. (In this example a whole protein is one that is yet to be part or fully broken down by any process, such as enzyme treatment.)

Free form water soluble amino acids do not appear to be as well utilised as whole proteins in trial carp diets for example, that test growth rates, mass and protein content of growing farmed carp under test conditions.

Most carp anglers are now familiar with the fact that most carp baits provide carp with at least a minimal quantity of amino acids or these essential natural protein building blocks. Even baits made from very low protein ingredients such as many plant sources, like wheat or maize flour have proved very successful, and bread rates as one of the best of all time, despite a relatively poor protein content compared to so many other baits.

Now you might be getting to see that although amino acids, nitrogen and protein are important, they are not solely the only thing on the planet that catches carp very well, so you can open your mind and relax again! You can catch carp on bits of rubber, or wood, and these obviously work on more carp senses than simply chemical orientated curiosity of carp.

A long list of simple baits can be made for carp going back centuries, from wasp grubs, slugs and snails, to honey bread paste, and many exotic baits most anglers would never even dream of. When you consider that partly boiled potatoes were once rated highly as carp bait on a rig consisting of a hook to line, with nothing else added, you can see how things have changed in the present day. In fact this bait and rig was recommended by a nationally honoured carp fishing pioneer by the name of Fred J. Taylor, and his recommendations were among some of my first introductions to carp fishing and baits, early in the seventies.

But do not get me wrong, fishing like anything evolves as carp habits do in response to carp angler's hooks and baits. It was Fred who really started the popularisation of using sweetcorn for carp fishing in the UK. There have been many occasions when modern baits have required some previous introduction into a carp water, before good results can be expected and so-called pre-baiting is a valuable tool in carp angling. But if your want to keep everything simple, then trying a natural bait in a slightly changed form can reap instant catch results.

But using natural live baits, like worms, maggots, or even at times, hemp seed or sweetcorn, can end up catching you lots of smaller fish instead of the bigger ones you are so keen to catch, at least initially.

So what you might like to use is a bait that will remain intact long enough to be selective much more for carp to a higher degree. Most carp anglers have heard of dough or pastes being used for carp bait, but more often today, baits produced as boilies are most common and these dissolve and break down in water far less quickly than dough or paste baits. Protein has been mentioned as a carp diet essential, but this needs to be balanced by a proportion of energy providing carbohydrate food too.

Luckily for us, there are very many carbohydrate foods easily within our grasp at very little cost that we can use for effective baits. Starch is one of the energy store forms of carbohydrates and like sugar, is soluble in water, so it is well detectable by carp. In nature, starch is the natural energy source of many things. Starch is found in fruits, tubers and rhizomes (think potatoes or tiger nuts,) grasses like wheat and oats, buckwheat, and hulled cereals like groats, to seeds like maize, sweetcorn, sesame seed, rice and hempseed, to beans and peas for example.

We are taught that carbohydrates are great for humans, cereals, rice and tubers are the sources of the staple energy and minimal nutrient providing foods of most cultures around the world (corn, wheat, potatoes and rice.) Starch is a form of glucose (long chains of glucose molecules,) and both humans and carp digest and use starches to form glucose in the bloodstream for the fuel to live. But carp do differ to humans in regards to carbohydrate and protein needs for instance, but I won't go into that here.

Although starch is a stiffening agent used in many foods, it is the high protein gluten part conjoined with starch that most glues carbohydrate foods and ingredients together. This mixture of soluble starch and gluey high protein gluten is ideal for making baits. All you have to think of is a basic ingredient like semolina or soya bean meal or flour. Semolina is a sticky very hard particle form of wheat flour ideal for use as a bait binding ingredient and as a flavour carrier. Soya flour like wheat flour has a long history in cheap carp bait making.

Soya has provides carp and humans with a far better nutritional profile compared to wheat, especially in regards protein content and the stimulatory as well as and essential amino acid profile it offers. Together they offer a very simple basic carp bait that carp recognise as edible which you can use as a basis to develop into many other bait recipe forms and experiments.

The fifty percent semolina and fifty percent soya flour type bait recipe, with an added attractor such as a flavour or sweetener substance that has started off so many carp bait makers, world-wide. As the basic combination of soya flour and semolina is able to be recognised and utilised as food by carp, you can work on adding other ingredients, additives, liquids etc, to boost attraction and bait success and prolonged longevity. You can make paste or dough using this mixture and use it straight away. Adding sugar and salt in moderation as you might in making bread for example obviously adds more for fish to get excited about.

Beginners can use a recipe like this one below to successfully make a simple dough or paste mixture, that can also be boiled in water after making marble size balls out of it for example, to produce boiles:

8 ounces (or around 500 grammes) of semolina.

8 ounces (or around 500 grammes) of soya flour.

4 to 6 large hen eggs (Preferably as fresh as possible; this is very significant.)

2 to 5 millilitres of a proprietary concentrated carp fishing flavour.

1 to 2 millilitres of a proprietary liquid intense sweetener.

Perhaps add a table spoon of blackstrap molasses or yeast extract or both to help nutritional attraction or even a proprietary vitamin and mineral compound, or Minamino for instance.

Add a heaped teaspoon of edible proprietary bait dye.

Usually the best thing to do is clear a table or work surface where you will not contaminate your own foods with bait nor get any contamination in your baits from your working environment! You might choose to use a round mixing bowl and fork specifically set aside for your bait making use. But if you can, do this initial mixing part at least using a kitchen mixing or blending machine for quicker easier results.

First crack your eggs into your container, your egg protein will help bind your mix and help to produce skinned resilient boilies. Add your liquids next, i.e. your flavour (or flavours,) sweetener, and molasses and (or) yeast extract. You can add your dye to the liquids or add it to your dry flour powders, it's your choice. This mix must be very thorough to efficiently disperse your liquid components evenly as possible.

The simplest way to mix a small amount of flours together is to weigh out your flours and put them into a strong plastic bag. Next tighten the top of the bag and blow into it like you would when blowing up a balloon. Now proceed to really shake those powders until they are very well evenly mixed.

This is all standard stuff and to be honest, there are very many alternative methods and much faster and labour removing options that can be used these days, but anyway, this route is proven to work by hundreds of thousands of carp anglers. All you do now is transfer your flour gradually while still mixing it into the liquid all the time, until a firm dough is formed. Like anything, you will soon speed up and getting the consistency correct for any mix takes a little practice and experience in actually doing it, just like making bread dough does.

If your mix is not pliable enough to be moulded because it is too dry, carefully add a mixture of the liquids you have already put together. If your mix is too wet, add more dry powders. Now your bait is ready. If you want to make boilies, usually you would roll your baits into small balls or random pieces and boil them in water for a few minutes a handful at a time, then dry on paper or towels, then bag-up to store in the fridge or freezer.

This recipe and bait making procedure is about as simple as you can get but by definition is the most labour intensive way and there are many short-cuts you can make! Also such carbohydrate baits are a very long way from maximum of carp bait design by exploiting those vital fish senses, but they work on most waters in most carp fishing situations. Often when used in larger quantities these cheap baits can be very effective, usually for limited periods of time, for carp of all sizes.

This is a bait that can get you some big-time beginners luck in your carp fishing, and even get you thinking just how much better you can make your baits; and I know you will be extremely surprised! It will cost you very little to multiply your catches for life when you find and utilise the right bait information (just look a little further on...)

Used Books Out Weigh The Cost Of New Books

With the rising cost of printing and publishing, people are finding that used books have a new appeal that they did not see before. Of course, this partially due to the cost of the new books costing so much for avid readers who enjoy reading more than they do the cost of the books themselves.

Students have purchased used books to help with the growing cost of college for decades, and these books that are used by students usually end right back up at either a campus books store or a local used book store. There stores are constantly purchasing college text books from students, because there are always a new set of students looking for them during the next semester. This also helps to keep these textbooks in circulation, which bridges a gap between those who need to purchase the books and those who need to dispose of them.

When a student is faced with purchasing a new book or a used book of the same edition, then the best solution for them is to purchase the used book. This is simply because the used book will save them at least thirty percent depending upon where the book is purchased at. One tip that students need to be aware of is that will probably be cheaper for them to purchase their used books from a local used book store rather than from the campus book store. The most popular used books sold at used book stores are college text books by the way.

Used book stores will often have a variety of publications available to choose from, which will please just about any avid reader and their pockets as well. The biggest advantage to used book stores are their extremely low prices, while the next advantage is their wide selection of books available to choose from. The variety of books available may range from poetry to westerns to romance to history. There are many avid readers that enjoy taking the time just to spend browsing through the selection of books to see what treasures they may find.

Purchasing a used book is not like purchasing a pair of jeans from a thrift store or a truck from a used car lot, which might have problems that you are not aware of. The jeans may be irregular and the car more than likely might have had engine problems. With used books you know exactly what you are getting, because you are able to see if the pages are yellowed or worn and if the cover has been torn. The most important thing about a used book is that you are able to read it, correct? At some older and smaller used book stores the books themselves might contain that old, musty smell, which some individuals associate with pleasant childhood memories once forgotten.

Being in college and trying to find the same text book that forty to fifty other students are trying to purchase can be troublesome. That is why instead of purchasing an eighth edition Psychology text book used students will purchase a seventh or even a sixth edition. Every thing in the book is basically the same and the younger editions will cost a great deal less as well. Students will do anything they can to keep from having to purchase new text books simply because the price of the new books are simply too expensive.

Rossi Firearms Vesitile and Affordable

The Rossi name is well known in the USA largely due to BrazTech International, the importer of these Brazilian firearms. In 1889, Amadeo Rossi and his family began to produce high-quality firearms, many of which now make up a good portion of the firearms market in the American civilian sector. Unlike most firearms manufacturers, BrazTech Rossi produces almost all breeds of firearms, from rifles, shotguns, and muzzleloaders to revolvers.

The BrazTech-imported Rossi firearms are some of the best buys you can find. BrazTech Rossi rifles have a versatile design with features like simple takedown and the ability to easily change the barrels. Rossi rifles also have certain models that have an integrated Picatinny rail system for easy mounting of your choice of optics, ideal for hunting applications. The BrazTech Rossi rifles are also designed to be ultra-lightweight, around six pounds, which is ideal for hiking.

But the Rossi Arms Company has not stopped there, releasing a wide range of single shot shotguns, which have been an instant hit within the hunting community. These shotguns feature a flawless, blued-steel design with a durable walnut finish, making them both nice to look at and nice to shoot. The Rossi shotguns also have a break open design, which many shotgun enthusiasts have been looking for in an affordable shotgun.

The ability to customize your Rossi single shot rifle to whichever caliber you need in less than a minute makes these ideal for an assortment of applications. The solid design of Rossi guns is well known by all that have fired the Rossi firearms. These guns make great first rifles, especially with the wide range of youth models available. The Rossi rifles are not limited to just multi-caliber, single action rifles; they can be made into a single shot shotgun in the same amount of time, providing users with a large spectrum.

Rossi revolvers come in two basic configurations: 357 Magnum and 38 Special. As an experienced shooter, I believe that extra safety with firearms is not always a bad thing, regardless of some opinions within the industry. The BrazTech Rossi revolvers have an integrated safety feature, which many other firearms producers have adopted as an extra safety measure. The Rossi revolver lock has been adopted by Taurus Arms and is quickly becoming known as the new firearm safety standard, especially for firearms owners who have children in their household.

So in my opinion the BrazTech imported Rossi firearms are some of the best buys you can find, not limiting the users to one specific caliber with all the rifles, as well as a safety lock system on all of the Rossi revolvers. From an experienced shooter I believe that extra safety with firearms is not always a bad thing, regardless of some in the industry. Although there has been a case brought to my attention where a owner of the Rossi revolver had used it as his concealed carry firearm, never test firing it, a year or so later realized it had been locked since he purchased the firearm, which did not make him feel comfortable, although I believe any firearm owner should read the manual no matter how much experience you have.

Learning to Draw using the POSI formula

Among the most crucial things to learn when learning to draw is understanding the process nearly every artist uses to fill a white sheet with more and more lines till she completed the drawing. Though apparently complicated this process consists of several separate and simple tasks.

Most artists pursue intuitively these individual tasks stepwise in the right order. Unfortunately when beginning to learn drawing, you lack the experience to adopt this strategy by instinct. But instead of waiting for the necessary experience, you should use the following shortcut.

I created a scheme around this process most artists understand and stick with intuitively. It consists of four steps: Placement, Outlines, Shapes, Illumination. These four steps are rather simple and pursue the usual process to make a drawing. I abbreviated this formula P-O-S-I — a POSItive way to learn drawing.

So let's get started:

1. Placing the elements in your drawing

This is the first step. Have a look at the whole scenery, identify the individual elements in the scenery and try to understand the scenery. Focus on the individual elements' locations and their position in relation to each other. Finally if you think your apprehension of the scenery is good enough, mark on your sheet wherever you would like to place the individual elements.
Seek out to be as precise as possible unless you have already some competence in the art of pictorial composition. Experienced artists know how to modify the scenery for a stronger impression without disturbing realism at the same time.

2. Drawing Outlines of the individual elements
Now you know where to lay out the elements it is time to sketch them as simple outlines. Look cautiously at each part of the scenery and try to understand its outline and form. Then draw its outline — only the silhouette — in a couple of faint lines. Restrict yourself to the external lines of each element. Repeat this step for every element in the scenery. Ideally you begin on elements in the background and move on to the foreground areas.
After finishing the outline of the whole scenery this way, it is time to have a final judging look (but not overly judging although!). In this stage it is still easy to shift any element or to correct one or another line. But do not be excessively critical and keep in mind: every great drawing comes alive thanks to slight deviations from reality.

3. Draw the Shape of the individual elements

Now it is time to turn our attention to the elements' anatomies. Start adding the inner structures of the scenery's parts with only few and faint lines. Aim strokes in the proper directions to follow and build the form of the parts of every element.
For curved elements use curving lines and in flat sections use straight lines. But still restrict you to only some and faint lines. Just try to catch the shapes properly. As there are still only fine and faint lines on the sheet you still have the chance to correct a line here and there.
In the end your drawing has gained a more substantial perspective and three-dimensional impression. Time to fill out the white spaces and complete your drawing!

4. Illuminate your Drawing
Until now we only worked on arraying the scenery using faint lines. Sketching the outlines and shapes of all elements in the scenery we created a line drawing that portrays the scenerys outlook faithfully.
But for producing real naturalism something is lacking: texture, light and shadow. In that last step we will fill out these elements that generate volume and depth to our drawing and finally make it seem naturalistic. So in this last step our opportunities for creating a great drawing are great but as well is the risk of damaging it beyond repair.
What to do? Again look cautiously at each part of the scenery. Notice how light, shadow and surfaces are forming the textures and what the colors look like. Most important is the surface — as even if a surface is all one color, its structure and texture creates different tones.
The same goes to shadows. Look how the elements cast dark areas on themselves and on elements close to them. Add these shadows by first sketching their countour, correcting and perfecting it and then filling it with dark shades.
While adding all the shades and textures to your drawing all of the time try to work from the background to the foreground. While following this strategy travel from brighter tones and light contrasts in the background to dark tones and sharp contrasts in the foreground. This ensures a more substantial volume and depth.

Congratulations! With this terminal step you completed your drawing. Go one step back and enjoy the result. But keep in mind: if the petty critic in you awakes, store your drawing away, the more you will enjoy it in some months!

Chinese Pit Bikes/Dirt Bikes? Should I even bother?

Let me first introduce myself, my name is Mike Smith. I own a company called Killer Motorsports, a company that sells all sorts of Chinese Pit Bikes, Scooters, and Parts. We also do service and MX training. I have been involved with "Chinese" importing since I was 12. Ok: maybe not myself, but my father who owned a multi-million dollar design/import business that supplied to Gulf States Toyota, Wal-Mart, AutoZone, etc let me start working for him when I was 12. He taught me all about the "Chinese", the industry, how importing worked, and how to run a business. When I was 20 I started my own business (Killer Motorsports) and it has grown into one of the dominating online/local "Chinese Vehicles and Parts" sales force in America. I visit overseas factories every year and am involved with companies in China, Tawain, Japan, UK, South America, and of course the USA. Needless to say, I'm pretty plugged into this market. With over 10,000 customers we have seen this question roll our way more often than not, "Should I even bother with a Chinese Pit Bike?". This question is plastered all over forum boards like, Thumpertalk.com, PlanetMinis.com, Stuntlife.com, and many more. Other "famous" questions are, "I saw this pit bike online, is it any good?" or "I heard this company sucks, do they?". Usually if you ever read a question like these you see a massive amount of slime as a reply with absolutely no factual data. People think just because they buy a pit bike they all of a sudden know the whole market and how it works. Let me assure you, they don't have a clue. This article is not to promote myself or my company but to provide "FACTUAL" data from my own experiences to help people decide for themselves what they should do. So Chinese pit bikes, do they really suck? Most people get caught up in what looks good or what their friends have. People do this with cars, a new Brand X sports car may look good and you go drop your bag of money on it, but then find out that Brand X Auto Company has the worst reliable rating known to man and you spend more fixing your car than you even paid for it. I know most people reading this article have either had that happen to them or known someone it has happened to. You first have to do your research on the actual company. By company I mean, MANUFACTURE! NOT the dealer. We will get to the dealers in a moment. The manufacture is the first place you have to do your research. Killer Motorsports makes a few of our own bikes, but we also "resell" Pitster Pro, Apollo, BBR, etc. So when researching to figure out if a certain pit bike is good, you can't start with Killer, they don't "manufacture" the bike, Pitster Pro does, Apollo does, etc. I have a great relationship with Pitster so I will use them as an example. Gary Goodwin who owns Pitster Pro, is one of the most dedicated people I have ever seen in this industry. Every year he comes up with something better and his new bikes this year BLEW ME AWAY! We design our own bikes and I personally own a Pitster Pro. What does that say about these guys? Sure I can hype Pitster Pro up, but they didn't use to be so great. When they first started out they had their issues like any start up company, BUT they had people in place to make better products, which made them the most respected pit bike manufacture in the world, (in my personal opinion). When Ford first released the model T, they sold a lot, and they SUCKED! But over the years they grew on their mistakes and perfected their products. Make sure the manufacture you deal with has this type of company history, where were they then and where are they now? Have they improved and progressed their products? FYI, you won't find this info in a forum board, go to the source. Call the manufacture up, get their story, most people love to share it if they have a good one. If they hang up on you, then you have your answer. There is one more thing about manufactures, how do they handle their "dealer support?" What do I mean by this? If you buy Product X from Killer Motorsports and it breaks down on you, how will the manufacture deal with issues "through" the dealer (Killer Motorsports). Let's just say you get a product from Killer Motorsports and the brand is Apollo, you ride your dirt bike for a month and something goes wrong. You call up Killer, file a warranty claim, Killer sends it into the manufacture; how will the manufacture deal with that claim? Are they hard to work with? Do they stand behind their product? The best way to answer this in my opinion is refer to the "Better Business Bureau". You can ask your dealer, but I like to get outside information with my personal research. The BBB is a great way to see if companies have a history of complains and what the complaints were. I don't suggest to refer to forum boards as most of the time you'll just find a lot of slime. I'm not saying forum boards are not a great source of information but it's "who" is providing the information. Is it Joe Blow or someone who has factual knowledge of the subject matter. Let's move onto the dealers now. Once you have done your research on the actual Manufacture (not YWZ Powersports) you can move onto the dealer/reseller (YWZ Powersports). There are thousands and thousands of dealers that sell pit bikes, scooters, atvs, etc. From your Factory Honda shop to your mom and pop shop to your local oil change place to the guy on the corner at the 7/11, everyone is a "dealer". NOT!!!!! Let me explain what makes a dealer. I know this inside and out because becoming a "dealer" was one of the biggest headaches I have ever had. Each state requires anyone selling a "motorized vehicle" (car, motorcycle, scooter, atv, etc.) have a "dealers license". To get a dealers license you have to do a few things. In Texas you are required to have 1. Frontage Location with attached sign (not a banner). 2. Have at least 1 office. 3. Have a working phone line and fax machine. 4. Have a service department with Tech. 5. Have a showroom. 6. Have an owner and manager. There are a few other things but you get the gist of the list. The states make you do this so you are a legit company that won't cause them problems, but also to protect the other dealers who are following the rules. Most states do background checks and also check financial history. They want to make sure the people that live in their great state won't be screwed by a fly by night company. The state of Texas Issues each dealer a 6 digit number that identifies them as a dealer within the respective state. The best way to figure out if someone is a "legit" dealer is to call them and ask them for their Dealer Number, NOT their Tax ID number. You want to buy from a dealer that is on the level, not someone who has not taken the steps to become a dealer with the state. If someone says they only sell online and they don't have to have a dealers license, this is FALSE. ANY motor vehicle sold by a "company" in ANY state has to have a license. If they don't have it, then you should probably stay away. The next way to find out if someone is on the level is to call and ask questions about the product you want to buy. Ask "what is the manufacture warranty?", "do you STOCK parts?", "do you have a STAFFED Mechanic that would be available in case I need help?" These question will give you a lot of insight for how this company is run and what you can expect in the future. If you call, leave a message, and no one ever returns your phone call, you might want to consider another dealer. When you buy a pit bike, scooter, etc, it is the DEALERS RESPONCIBILITY to sell it to you, provide warranty service, and sell you parts not covered under warranty. A dealer is NOT responcible for the Manufactures quality, you should have done YOUR OWN RESEARCH on that manufacture PRIOR to buying your bike from a dealer. A lot of people who have some sort of opinion about pit bikes blame everything on the dealer which most often than not, it is the manufactures fault. The dealer can't control the design and making of the product. The dealers can provide as much support as possible for the product and help you file a warranty claim or buy replacement parts. It is up to the buyer to do research on the product and the makers of that product before they buy. Let me summarize the last few paragraphs before I continue. Step 1. Research the manufacture on the product you want. Step 2. Find a dealer and see if the dealer is legit. Step 3. See how the dealer handles their business. Remember, sometimes it's better to pay more. If you feel like the dealer will go far beyond any expectations you may have, it might be better to spend a few more bucks. Another question we get a lot is, how can I tell if a product is good or not? First off, there are hundreds of "Chinese Manufactures". If I went to China and wanted to visit every assembly plant, it would take a year. Did you catch what I just said? Assembly plant. That's right, it's all been a big lie!!! No one in China is actually a manufacture of a pit bike line. Roketa, Apollo, Pitster Pro, Coolster, SunL, JCL, etc are all assembly plants. Here is how it works. When Coolster paid me to fly to China to help improve their products, I didn't walk into a massive facility with hundreds of injection molding and CNC machines. I walked into a warehouse with shelves after shelves of parts. Then one huge assembly room. Coolster buys all the parts that go on their bike and then assembles it and that product then becomes a "Coolster" brand product. No matter what ANY manufacture says, this is how it's done. Toyota, Chevy, Suzuki, they all work just like this. My step bars on my Tundra were not made by Toyota, but from Cord Automotive. So how do you tell if a Chinese factory is putting out good product or not. Well, I go to China, and even if I'm standing there in the factory, it's still hard to tell whats quality and whats not. I have to look at weld points, injection points, etc. and even still it's hard to decern whats crap vs quality. Here is a trick you can use that can help, see what parts can be interchanged with a CRF50 and a KLX110. If most of parts will cross over then its probably going to be a better bike. If few to none cross over then you might want to stay away. The Chinese all have the same equipment we do, the same technology, the only thing that is different from us making a product vs them it the labor rate. If the Chinese develop a product on their own, its usually going to suck. Not to talk bad about the Chinese, but when it comes to motor vehicles they just haven't got the injenuity part down yet. If they copy something that is already a proven product ( CRF50, KLX110 parts) then it will probably be something good. I have ridden in Chinese designed, developed, and produced cars, and its probably safer to ride a 3 wheel tricyle. But hey, their cars are dirt cheap!! Another way you can tell if you are getting a quality built product is to figure out what engine they are putting in their product. If it is a Lifan or ZongShen, then its obvious they are spending the extra money to try and develop a quality product for the market. If it's a Ducar, Loncin or lower quality engine, then the factory is probably trying to save money and also putting lesser quality parts on their bikes to save money as well. Now that you have read over 2000 words I would assume another question will surface now as it usually does in my business. I got a Coolster Pit Bike, it has the ZongShen, Killer Motorsports has parts, yet I feel like this bike just sucks because A. Things are breaking or B. It's just not the quality I was expecting. Say you bought a $999 Apollo Scooter. First, don't have high expectations. Even a $1200 dollar Honda CRF50 is going to suck for any adult rider. You have to upgrade suspension, motor, levers, etc and you'll end up spending $2500 for that CRF50 to make it track ready. Same thing goes with a Coolster Pit Bike for $1000 you are getting what you pay for, a bike that is rideable and works. Not a race ready or track ready bike. You'll need suspension upgrades, motor work, levers, etc for it to perform to your high expectations. You'll have to spend $2000 on your Coolster to make it race or track ready. This is why Pitster Pros X4R costs $2695. It comes with the big engine, Marzocchi Forks, etc, most of the things you'll need for a race/track ready bike. If you don't want to spend the $2500ish on a bike, then just realize your $999 bike will probably need some upgraded parts. If you get a good quality Chinese engine then you won't have to worry about it breaking on you, as long as you do the proper maintenance. Second, you think you have issues with your Chinese product? Just as many people have problems with their Honda CRF50. If you get any rider on any motorized vehicle, things are just bound to happen, it's a wear and tear product, not a tank. You just hear more about Chinese products because there is 10 times the amount of Chinese product floating around then Honda, Yamaha, etc. My wifes CRF50 has issues from time to time. Heck, it was built with the 6 year old in mind, not an adult rider. That's why BBR Motorsports is there. BBR makes the BEST UPGRADE products available for Honda, Kawasaki, etc. If you are an adult rider that owns a factory pit bike then you probably have some sort of BBR product already on your ride or need to get something from BBR for your bike. My Suzuki GSXR-1000 Sport bike has around $2000 in upgrades. You would figure if you spent over $11,000 on a sport bike it would have everything from Rocket Launchers to Transporter Controls, they don't though. I put new levers on my bike, got it Yoshi Tuned, put a better pipe on it to increase performance, changed the oil to synthetic, upgraded the plugs, filter, etc. If you want your product to be perfect and have no issues, you have to be willing to pay for it. If you want something to putt around on, have fun doing some trail riding, then a $1000 dollar bike will do you well, if you want something to have no issues and be race ready, be prepared for the price tag. I hope this has helped you understand the market better and can help you with your future purchases. I could have easily turned this into a 50 page document but just wanted to answer, what I thought, the most common questions I hear all the time that never seem to get answered. There are many Manufactures, Dealers, and Products out there, if you keep your expectations below perfect and do your research properly, you should be fine with whatever you purchase. TV Shows And Board Games

It can be safely said that television plays a very large role in culture today. It is extremely rare to find someone who doesn't pay attention to the programming on the networks today. This attention starts to bleed out into other forms of entertainment available to the public and this includes the world of board games. Popular television shows are beginning to find some life in the gaming industry and this is a fact that is unlikely to change anytime soon. Fans are becoming more and more outspoken about exactly what they like and when options are available to them to continue to enjoy their interests, especially in the world of board games, they will take them.

A number of popular television shows have been given a platform with board games in the form of trivia. Grey's Anatomy, Sex and the City, I Love Lucy, and Desperate Housewives are just a few of the shows which have been given this trivia game treatment. With these board games, players often compete with each other in questions about the show's storyline, the actors in the show, and production behind it. Fans who know the most, usually with some lucky throws of the dice, find themselves as the winner of the game. These games feature a simple board that players race around, landing on different spaces that usually denote the type of question that needs to be answered to progress. Trivia games based on popular television shows are usually popular with the fans because not only does it allow them to prove their status as super fans, but to usually learn something new about the show that they did not realize before.

Trivia games aren't the only representation that television shows have in the board game world, however. Different shows are adaptable to different types of games, such as reality television. Some of these reality game shows have been adapted into board games, with Survivor, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race being some of the most popular ones. With Survivor, players race around the board for Immunity by solving different puzzles or trivia questions about survival skills. The first player to reach the end of the board wins the round and Immunity for that turn. Players will then vote one member of the game out of the running and onto the jury. Players who have previously been voted out return at the end of the game to determine the winner between the final two players, much like the show. The Amazing Race board game utilizes a DVD which allows players to experience some of the different cultures of the world while racing through the board, giving it an edge that other board games usually do not provide.

Lost gives its fans a strategy board game that changes each time it is played. By laying different tiles across the playing field, the board is built randomly each game and "the island" is never quite the same twice. It allows players to have a variety of different characters from the show and the novelty of this can last quite a while. Television can be a very creative outlet for storytelling and adventure and when these quality cross over into the board games representing the shows, quality entertainment can be enjoyed by all.

What To Eat While Camping

One of the most fun times you can have while camping is cooking for the group. Cooking is generally done over a fire or on a grill. You should bring foods that are easy to store and keep fresh. You should include snacks for the trail as well as foods to prepare for each meal. Perishable items should be stored in a refrigerator or in a cooler on ice.

Breakfast
Start your day off right with a breakfast that will get you ready for a day of hiking or exploring. Slice up some mushrooms, onions, bacon and potatoes and grill in a skillet over the fire until done. Mix eggs with a little milk and pour over the mixture to heat until the eggs are fully cooked. This is a great skillet meal that is easy to prepare and clean up. Another easy meal to prepare is a breakfast taco. Cook some eggs and place inside a tortilla with cheese and picante sauce. If you feel a bit more adventurous, try a breakfast pizza using pre made crusts and eggs. You can cook the eggs any way you like them and add bacon, potatoes or sausage. Heat the pizza crusts over the fire and top with your egg mixture and cheese.

Lunch
Keep lunch simple and easy to prepare and clean up so you get back to your adventures. Sandwiches are a great lunchtime treat using easy to store and prepare foods. Sliced lunch meats with vegetables on bread make the perfect pick me up. For a hot side dish to accompany the sandwiches take some frozen French fries, chili and cheese sauce; combine them in foil, wrapping it tightly. Throw the package on the fire and cook until the fries are cooked through and then enjoy your gooey chili cheese fries.

Dinner
Dinner consisting of a hearty stew is a great option. Using canned vegetables, mix equal parts of your favorites in a heavy pot. These can include corn, peas and beans. Also add a can of chunk chicken and pre made barbecue pork. Add two cans of tomato sauce and two cans of chopped tomatoes and simmer slowly over an open fire for a filling stew. If you went fishing and were lucky enough to make a catch, fry it for dinner. After cleaning the fish, cut it into fillets. Combine one can of beer with two eggs until thoroughly mixed. To that add twelve ounces of flour, two teaspoons of baking powder and salt and pepper to taste. Dip the fish in cornstarch then the batter. Place it in hot oil and fry until the batter puffs. This is a great way to enjoy the efforts put forth after a day of fishing.

Trail Snacks
No camping trip is complete without snacks to prepare and bring while you are out on a nature hike. Walking and hiking is hard work so you should bring some foods that will help boost your energy. Popcorn popped over an open flame is a fun way to prepare the next day?s snack. Trail mix is a traditional option and is limited to only your imagination. Use a combination of hearty ingredients with sweets. Combine granola, raisins, chocolate chips, M & M?s, cereal, dried fruits and nuts. Use whatever combinations you like.

My favorite camping meals though, are made with pudgie pie makers (also called pie irons). They are made of cast iron or metal and have long handles. Our family uses pudgie pie makers to meal delicious treats for lunch and dinner. Bread is the staple ingredient in making a pudgie pie. My favorite is grilled cheese. To make one, butter two slices of bread. Place the buttered side down in the pudgie pie maker. This will prevent the bread from sticking. Place a cheese slice on top of each slice of bread. Close the pudgie pie maker. Place in the coals of your campfire. It will only take a few minutes for the pie to cook. Turn the pie maker after about a minute. Watch your sandwich closely. Depending on how hot your fire is, the sandwich will cook very quickly. Ham and tomato are also very good additions to your cheese sandwich.

Pizza pudgie pies are popular with our family too. Again, butter two slices of bread and place the buttered side down in the pudgie pie maker. Add your favorite pizza toppings (ours are canned pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese). Close the pudgie pie maker and place in the coals of your campfire to cook. Be careful when removing pudgie pies from your pudgie pie maker. Both the pudgie pie maker and your sandwich will be very hot.

Another favorite type of pudgie pie that our family enjoys are dessert ones. Butter your two slices of bread and place the buttered sides down in the pudgie pie maker. Spoon in some of your favorite prepared pie filling (cherry or apple are our favorites). Cook in the fire and enjoy.

And of course, no camping trip is complete without making smores. They?re also very easy to make. Start by roasting a marshmallow over your fire. Once your marshmallow is warm and gooey, stick it on top of a graham cracker and a piece of a chocolate bar, and then top with another graham cracker.

Cooking while camping can really be a lot of fun. Preparing foods should be easy and require little clean up and use few pots and pans. At the end of the night, though, no camping trip would be complete without toasting marshmallows. Cut some branches and skewer large marshmallows. Hold each stick over the flame until brown and toasty. It makes a great, gooey dessert and an ideal end to your day.

Hollywood Movies That Are Made From Existing Stories

Movies and stories have a very old connection. Throughout the history of films, different movies have come from famous stories, novels and plays all over the world. Hollywood movies are not an exception. There is a reason behind this profound love of Hollywood for good stories. Actually, Hollywood is a kind of industry which always wants to tell stories through their films. They always follow a linear way of story telling. To maintain this linear way, they always search for good stories. In this article, we will talk about those Hollywood movies that are made from existing stories.

Making films from stories has some advantages. This system saves a lot of time in the pre-production stage. In this case, the director does not have to appoint a writer for a new story. As the story already exists, he just need to do the script and screenplay.

A readymade story gives the film an extra popularity. If the film is made from a hit tale, then very naturally people will be eager to watch the film version of it. If we check the history, then we will find out that most of those kinds of films have been big box office hits.

If the film is based on the work of a renowned author, then it will ease the work pressure on the director to some extent. A famous book is obviously good writing. Therefore, the director will not have to change a lot of that.

Hollywood films have come from three different categories of literary works. These three are stories, novels, and plays. First we are going to look at the films made from famous stories. Kafka was a writer whose stories influenced Hollywood a lot. However, it is very tough to make a film version of his stories, but still people have tried and in some cases, they have done a very good job. For instance, The Trial directed by Orson Welles was a masterpiece. It was released in 1963.

Many films have been made from the stories of O Henry, the famous American story writer. Gift of the Magi directed by Scott Mansfield and The Last Leaf directed by David Anspaugh had been instant hits. Roald Dahl was a very famous British writer who wrote several short stories and novels. He also scripted some films. Lamb to the Slaughter directed by Nicole Barnette was based on a very famous story of Dahl.

Some very famous novels have been given film versions. For instance, The Accidental Tourist was based on the writing of Anne Tyler. The film was directed by Lawrence Kasdan and was released in the year 1988. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was the film version of the famous Mark Twain novel, filmed by Peter H. Hunt.

Some famous plays have also been transformed into films. For example, Orson Welles filmed Macbeth, the famous play of William Shakespeare, in the year 1950. Franco Zeffirelli filmed Romeo and Juliet in the year 1968.

Play Some Card Games

Are you looking for a way to spend a rainy afternoon with friends? Or are you trying to plan some fun activities for your next big party? If so, the answer to your questions is simple: card games. It seems so obvious, but perhaps that is exactly the reason you forgot about it.

Card games are great for a lot of reasons. One of the best reasons that card games are great for almost any social gathering or party is because they allow people to be social and enjoy time together. There is nothing worse than planning a party for friends that includes nothing other than watching movies. Who wants to gather at a social event and then do a totally non-social activity? Card games are great because they offer more focus and entertainment than simply allowing people to mingle and yet they maintain the social atmosphere. People can share in great conversations while spending hours playing card games.

Another great reason to include card games at your next event is because they are fun. I cannot think of many people that do not enjoy good card games. Card games are tried and true fun for almost everyone. It can be hard to keep people entertained with the variety of new games that are on the market simply because people do not know how to play them. It can be easier and just as much fun to entertain people with card games that they are familiar with. Something about a great hand of rummy or euchre never gets old.

If you have invited people to your party that are not familiar with the classic card games, don't worry because it is easy and fun to teach card games to people. That is another great benefit of card games. You will not have to waste half of your time teaching the card games. Most people pick them up easily. So allow yourself to invite people who are masters at your favorite card games and who are novices at the games. Everyone can be having fun together in no time.

Card games are great because there is such a variety to choose from. Don't like euchre? Don't worry, you can try poker or rummy instead. Card games provide literally endless hours of fun. If your guests have been playing poker for hours, change it up and teach them canasta or bid euchre instead. There are enough good card games to keep any party nothing but fun. Look no further than card games to make your next party or social gathering the one people will not want to miss.

How Safe Is Your Gun? A 12 Year Old Can Open Most Gun Safes.

A safe is essential if you have a gun at home. It is also essential that your safe is easy for you to use but difficult to access without your authorization.

Safes are made from tough, heavy gauge steel, typically half an inch thick. The safe may have two sheets of hard steel, with ball bearings sandwiched between the two layers. The ball bearings make drilling through the door or sides very difficult.

The door and lock are inherently the weakest points of any safe. Locking the safe door should operate hardened steel or titanium bolts on all four sides. Hinges are internal so that they do not present a weakness to an intruder.

Locks may be key, combination or fingerprint operated. The best safes have combinations of different types of lock and time delays before a lock will open.

Key locks can be picked, even the most complex key operated lock can be picked by an expert. An expert can find a combination code on a rotary combination dials fairly easily. A keypad combination is the best if you have a combination lock. There are no moving parts to go wrong, or to give clues to a safe cracker who is listening to the lock as he or she operates it.

It is important to keep the keypad clean. Dirty or clean keys give clues to anyone trying to get into your safe. Make sure the combination you choose bears no relationship to phone numbers, birth dates or any other data that can be guessed.

The best option is a fingerprint-operated lock. Then you can have absolute confidence that while your fingers are attached to your body that nobody will be able to open your safe without your knowledge.

A fingerprint operated lock combined with a keypad combination lock, or a second fingerprint operated lock set up for a second person provides the best security for guns or valuables

Fire protection is usually built into home safes, with layers of insulating material and expanding door seals that exclude oxygen and prevent combustion of the safe contents.

Free Soccer Drills To Boost Your Game

I am sure you have heard the old saying, practice makes perfect. In soccer, that saying couldn't be more accurate. If you want to grow as a soccer player the one thing that you need to do is practice an array of soccer drills. By going to your standard practices you'll be able to learn a lot, but if you want to be a stand out you need to practice on your own as well. Listed below are a few free soccer drills that you can practice with to do just that. Our first drill is one that many know as juggling. I know what you may be thinking, "how am I going to juggle in a game?" Well, your not. What juggling does is lay the ground work for more advanced skills in the future. This soccer drill is easy, fun and the best part is that it can be done alone. By practicing juggling, you'll develop a great feel for the ball. This helps your dribbling and trapping ability which are very important in a game. Juggling also strengthens concentration, balance and the ability to control the ball with both feet. Juggling just 30 minutes a day can go a long way in helping with many other skills. Our next drill is one called one on one dribbling. To be most effective, you should do this drill in pairs. There are so many instances in game play where you'll need to take on an opponent and get past them. The more practice you have with one on one dribbling the better you'll be when it really counts, in a game. It's a good idea to play both roles when practicing this skill. You'll want to be the defender in one instance and then play the attacker in the next. Just have a little fun with this and turn it into a game. When you get past the other player you get one point and vice versa. Finally we have one touch passing. This is best done in groups with your teammates. This drill will help in your ball handling skills and also work on your agility. The basics of this drill is having at least 4 players, 2 on either side about 10 feet apart. To start, just pass the ball to someone on the opposing side by only touching it once. When the ball comes to you immediately kick it to someone else. After a short bit of time you should try and speed it up some to increase skill. The backbone of a great soccer player are the drills he practices. By doing some of these free soccer drills you too can become great. Most, if not all the best in the game practice for hours on their own. Is it any wonder why they are as good as they are.

British Aikido Board National Nepotism Seminar

The British Aikido Board Disastrous National Nepotism Seminar 2004 — 99 Students By Henry Ellis ( BAB Founder member - now resigned ) Co-author of Positive Aikido. For many years The British Aikido Board ( BAB ) have shown no interest whatsoever in the true history of British Aikido, to be fair to the BAB, they have in the past shown a great deal of interest and support for the false history of British Aikido for which they have now publicly apologised, the apology to Henry Ellis by the chairman Mr Vincent Sumpter can be viewed on www.geocities.com/britishaikido. Kenshiro Abbe Sensei When Kenshiro Abbe Sensei first stepped on British soil in 1955 he brought with him the knowledge of many Budo arts, Aikido being one of them. Abbe Sensei also brought his Aikido based philosophy of Kyu-Shin-Do. This was the inception of British Aikido. Yet no where in the BAB literature will you find any reference to Kenshiro Abbe Sensei or the origins of Aikido within the UK. In the year 2000 the BAB were happy to help promote Mr Pooles proven fraudulent claims to 47 yrs of Aikido, I am plesaed to add that the BAB have now taken this claim by Mr Poole from the BAB Associations information website. I personally received my invitation from the BAB to attend Mr Poole's event, that was the start of the long running British Aikido Board Controversy which was resolved at the mediation meeting 6th July 2005 with Sport England/BAB/Ellis. Yet sadly, the BAB have never ever recognised or promoted the true history of British Aikido or its founder Kenshiro Abbe Sensei. The reason for this article is that following the success of the great Kenshiro Abbe Sensei Celebrations 14th May 2005 I am informed that the BAB plan a similar event next year which would be an insult to the memory of Abbe Sensei and to the handful of Abbe Sensei direct students. It should be pointed out that the spate of attacks on the credibilty of British Aikido History - Kenshiro Abbe Sensei and Henry Ellis have all come from within the BAB, some are executive members along with prominent members of the British Aikido Board associations. These are the very people that the members would expect to promote and protect their proud lineage. The BAB chairman once supported the claims of Mr Poole by stating " We have no formal records to prove or disprove either claim " DUH < There were four of Abbe Sense's direct students within the BAB > Mr John Burn.* BAB Executive *- *BAB Communications Officer* - Very Serious libel attack on the name of Henry Ellis. renews his attack 10th June 2005 stating " This only serves to amuse me ". Jim Johnston. The then *BAB Press Officer*. Promoting the fraudulent claims of Mr Poole whilst fully knowing the truth. Mr Dominick Foster.* BAB Executive * - Attends the Kenshiro Abbe Celebrations and states to a VIP guest "What is this Celebration all about " he then states that next year is the true celebration of British Aikido by the BAB. Mr Jack Poole.* BAB Senior Principal Coach *. The Jack Poole Biography..( a catalogue of lies. ). The KenShinKai.* Prominent BAB Association*. Gave 100% Support for the JP Bio..Their open letter taken from the NACD is a classic. Mr Gwynne Jones.* Prominent BAB member *. Dis-credits 6 of the first 8 of the early dan grades in MartialArts Illustrated article " Bends the Branch..Issue June 05. visit the National Aikido Database for more information. British Aikido Board Statement Damned Forever * The BAB Chairman *Toni Davis stated in the year 2000 "We the British Aikido Board are not the custodians of British Aikido History and therefore have no interest in the same" Sadly with the arrival of the new BAB chairman Mr Vincent Sumpter nothing changed, he made the statement below despite the factual information available to him and his executive, We must not forget that Mr Sumpter had the only four surviving students of Abbe Sensei for Aikido within the BAB. On the 17th April 2002 The *BAB Chairman * Mr Vincent Sumpter wrote to Henry Ellis with reference to the history of British Aikido. He then made the following crass statement in his support for the BAB stance on Mr Jack Poole. "The period in question predates the creation of the BAB by a significant amount of time and therefore we have no formal records to prove or disprove either claim." The Kenshiro Abbe 50th Celebration Seminar May 14th Crystal Palace London 720 Participants —Guests — Spectators At the Sport England / BAB / Ellis mediation meeting 6th July 2004 where the BAB were reprimanded by Sport England and instructed to give Henry Ellis a full public apology. At the end of the meeting ( The minutes for this meeting can be viewed on www.geocities.com/britishaikido ), Henry Ellis appraised Ms Sadie Mason of Sport England of the proposed plans for the Kenshiro Abbe event, Ms Mason suggested that we should involve the BAB in our plans as part of the reconciliation of British Aikido, Henry Ellis agreed. Henry Ellis offered Ms Mason's suggestion to the Abbe Event Committee, the suggestion was unanimously accepted 100%. The BAB executive were then approached and invited to send a representative ( any one of its 15,000 members ) of the BAB to attend our meetings and report back on our progress, this offer was rejected out of hand. Mr Vincent Sumpter "No matter your Pretence, you are what you are and nothing more!" Kenshiro Abbe Sensei Not deterred, we then invited the BAB chairman Mr Vincent Sumpter to attend The Kenshiro Abbe 50th Celebration as a VIP guest, to pay the respects of the BAB membership of which he represents . There were many BAB members attending, proving that this event was not about personal differences — styles or what organisation you belong to, I was pleased to see students from Mr Poole's organisation who were also made very welcome. This event was about one thing and one thing only " Kenshiro Abbe Sensie " with demonstrations of the early aikido and its proud standards, with Sensei Eastman showing various techniques to show the influences that the different early teachers brought to the UK in those early days. Students trained with other students of various styles and associations with a friendliness not often seen in modern Aikido circles. this event went a long way to promote all that is good in Aikido. I believe that the spirit of Abbe Sensei would be very proud of this special day to his memory. Another crass statement from Mr Vincent Sumpter 27th March 2004 made before the Sport England Mediation meeting 6th July 2005. In an unwarranted attack on the genuine aikidoka who supported the British Aikido Controversy debate in its defence of the true history of British Aikido and the Aikido history of Abbe Sensei and his disciples. Mr Sumpter bleats. "The Boards conscience is clear. like all the practitioners of Aikido who contribute to this "controversy " Mr Humm appears to have forgotten the meaning of the word "Aikido " — Harmony of Sprit to find a Way " The "Controversy " website feeds hatred, ill — feeling, bitterness and discord. For my part, as an aikidoka who is passionate about the art and the etiquette that goes with it, I will therefore not add to the feeding frenzy this website generates. I can't stop what is going on but I can turn the other cheek." With reference to the above statement by Mr Sumpter I should remind the reader to visit www.geocities.com/britishaikido to read both the Sport England minutes and Mr Sumpters apology to Mr Ellis which can only be considered an apology to all those that supported the "Controversy " in the name of Kenshiro Abbe Sensei including the named Mr David Humm. In response to our invitation to attend as a VIP guest to the Abbe event Mr Sumpter replied stating that he graciously accepted our invitation. Just before the event he changed his mind without explanation, suggesting that we allow Mr Ralph Reynolds to represent the BAB. Mr Reynolds had a far more important role to play as one of the main teachers at this event where he was delighted to take part as an original student of Kenshiro Abbe Sensei. This was such an important event with many good students who were members of the BAB, yet, the British Aikido Board were not represented at this event to pay tribute to such a great master and the founding father of British Aikido. If Mr Sumpter had attended he would have seen a Martial Arts Spectacular never before seen in the United Kingdom, where students from many organisations met and renewed old friendships, there were many more that made new friendships. In almost 50 years of Aikido I have never before experienced the special atmosphere that electrified the great hall at Crystal Palace from the moment the Taiko Drummers started to play on this day of celebration in the name of Abbe Sensei. I never ever thought in my life time that I would ever see an event to eclipse the great event at The Royal Albert Hall in 1963 with Abbe Sensei. I knew on Saturday the 14th of May that I was now witnessing the greatest Aikido event in my 48 years of Aikido. I am not an emotional man but I will admit that as I looked over the balcony of the concourse onto the tatami area with the sound of the Taiko Drummers and the hundreds of students and guests gathering below I was unable to stop the trickle of a few emotional tears as I realised I was witnessing something very special. MR SUMPTER, you missed something very special, whilst you sat 40 miles away at home ignoring the tribute to the father of British Aikido, others travelled from all parts of the UK — USA — France — Holland — Germany — Czechoslovakia. etc. Whilst you sat at home it was a wonderful moment when Sensei Bill Woods who was the personal aide to Kenshiro Abbe Sensei and without doubt the most influential force in the history British Martial Arts, made a supreme effort despite his serious illness to pay his respects to the memory of Abbe Sensei. Also whilst you sat at home, Sensei Bill Stopps the personal Aide to Matsutharu Otani Sensei who despite his age and ill health also attended and thanked me wholeheartedly for inviting him as a special guest, and for the wonderful day he had experienced. Whilst you sat at home just 40 miles away, Sensei Robin Otani and his two sons, the descendents of Matsutharu Otani Sensei travelled all the way from Devon to attend. Sensei Joe Curran travelled all the way from Newcastle and Sensei Mike Nery travelled from Bristol. Sensei Dave Rogers travelled 7000 miles from New Mexico USA as did Sensei Al Montemar and Mr Chad Hatcher who flew over from Texas USA to pay their respects. Whilst you sat at home there were many others that travelled long journeys to attend. Unlike you Mr Sumpter these people wanted to attend. You missed some of the finest displays of the Budo arts that any martial artist is ever likely to witness at any one event, a truly lasting experience for all those that made the effort to attend. I was always under the impression that it was the sworn duty of any chairman to always do what was best for his organisation and its members. As the previous BAB chairman Toni Davies will always be rembered for nothing more than his unsweving support for Mr Poole. The present chairman Mr Sumpter will always be rembered as the BAB chairman who snubbed the Kenshiro Abbe Memorial to pay tribute to our founding father on behalf of his membership. Try Try Try Again After the disastrous "British Aikido Board Nepotism Seminar 2004" with only 99 students attending out of a membership of approx 15000, the BAB have decided not to hold it's 2005 National Seminar . They are of course fully aware of the fantastic success of the Kenshiro Abbe Celebrations. With 720 participants — honoured guests — spectators. The BAB having failed in its four year support for Mr Jack Poole to change the history of British Aikido. They now appear to have a renewed interest in the true history of British Aikido and its founder Kenshiro Abbe. No matter whatever the British Aikido Board do, that damning statement below will hang over their shameless heads for ever and a day. British Aikido Board Statement Damned Forever The BAB Chairman Toni Davis stated in the year 2000 "We the British Aikido Board are not the custodians of British Aikido History and therefore have no interest in the same." "No matter your pretence, you are what you are and nothing more." Kenshiro Abbe Sensei By: Henry Ellis Co-Author of Positive Aikido. http://www.EllisAikido.org http://www.geocities.com/britishaikido

Avoiding Dirt Bike Accidents

Is there any way I can avoid dirt bike accidents?

The quick answer to this questions is no, you will inevitably have a dirt bike accident during your time as a dirt bike racer. It?s simply a matter of time, however you should be able to limit the number and severity of your accidents by the way you ride and the attitude you have when you?re on the back of your bike.

Does attitude really play a part in reducing dirt bike accidents?

Absolutely, but there?s a fine line that you need to be on, and riding on either side of the line can result in an accident. If you have little or no confidence then you are probably going to crash, albeit at low speed but even low speed accidents can hurt; especially if you are hit by someone who isn?t doing such a low speed. A lack of confidence usually tends to mean a lack of practise so practise somewhere very quiet and gain as much confidence as you can in both your ability and your bike?s behaviour.

On the other flip side of the coin, though, you can be too confident and become reckless and dangerous. This will probably lead to more dangerous accidents for you and possibly other riders around you. The trick here is to be confident but not too cocky when it comes to your riding.

Knowledge is power, even concerning dirt bike accidents.

The more you know all the factors involved in your dirt bike racing the more chance you have of dirt bike racing being a fun and less dangerous sport. Get to know your bike?s abilities, your own abilities and as much as you can about the course before you start trying to break any records or win any races. This is where the fine line comes into it. If you?re racing a track blind you still need to have the confidence to get out there and ride fast enough to make an impact. If possible walk around the track before and see what you?re up against, even better watch some riders practising and see what they?re doing; where they?re going wrong and where they?re doing well.

Dirt bike accidents can hurt like hell and do damage to you and your bike. If you know enough about your bike and your track and you have the right level of confidence then there is no reason why you shouldn?t be able to race for years with only a few less serious accidents; but do bear in mind that accidents are basically a part and parcel of dirt bike racing and they will happen to you eventually.

Getting Out Of The Rough

During the 1972 British Open at Muirfield, Scotland, Tony Jacklin and Lee Trevino attacked the 9th hole from the tee. Jacklin went for the carry over the left-hand fairway bunker, while Trevino played more conservatively down the right side. Both finished in the rough, but within iron distance of the green. Two amazing shots followed, both landing about 20 yards (18 m) short of but running onto the green. Both players then holed their putts for eagles.

Hitting into the rough is the most common problem a golfer faces. Even golfing legends like Trevino and Jacklin find themselves in the rough more often than they?d like. But by making a few adjustments you can get yourself out of trouble and back onto the fairway without costing yourself strokes.

When a recreational golfer finds himself in the rough, he often lets the situation intimidate him. Instead of assessing the lie, like many golf instruction manuals suggest, he grabs a club and slashes away, hitting into the rough again or into more trouble. By the time he finishes, he?s hacked out an 8 on the scorecard.

Hitting from the rough?whether heavy and thick or light and fluffy?trips up many golfers?even those who?ve taken golf lessons. But learning how to can get out of the rough doesn?t take a lot of instruction. It just takes a bit of discretion and knowing what adjustments to make.

Thick Rough

Hitting into the thick rough is the more common scenario. The problem is the thickness of the grass. It grabs the hosel of your club and closes the clubface at impact, causing you to pull the ball left (for right handers). The grass also reduces club head speed and takes backspin off the ball. Heavy clumps of grass require almost brute force to get out of.

Choosing the right club is crucial, as most golf tips point out. You need a club with a sharp leading edge, like the shorter irons. The edge cuts through the thick grass, giving the best chance of catching the ball squarely. Try a lofted wood (5,7,9) or lofted iron (9 iron, pitching wedge). The loft gets you airborne quicker. If the ball is buried, try the 6 iron. And don?t try to hit a big hook or big slice. The deeper, thicker grass makes the ball go straight.

Ball position is also crucial: Too far forward means there?s too much grass to get through. Too far back means there?s not enough loft to get the ball airborne. Position the ball left of center (for right handers) with the longer clubs, and right of center with the shorter clubs.

In addition, do the following:

? Take a steeper angle of attack
? Keep your hands ahead of the club.
? Lean your weight forward
? Take a normal stance
? Aim your body slightly left
? Open your clubface
? Take a divot after the ball

Two other adjustments: set your wrists a fraction earlier than normal during takeaway and center your weight over the ball at the top of your back swing.

Light Fluffy Rough

Hitting from a light fluffy lie requires different adjustments, but it?s no less challenging. Like the thick rough, the real culprit is the grass.

With fluffy grass the ball sits up high, almost as if it were on a tee, so don?t take your normal swing. You need to avoid undercutting the ball, which prevents solid contact. Instead, try sweeping it off the ?tee,? with the blade of your club barely touching the tips of the grass.

In addition, do the following:

? Choke down on the club
? Play the ball father forward
? Hover the club at address
? Restrict your back swing
? End with a balanced finish

Move your hands about an inch (2.5 cm) down the grip and position the ball farther forward in your stance, which encourages more of a sweeping motion through the swing.

Hovering the club permits you to catch the ball flush and guards against the ball moving at address. Choking down on the club restricts your backswing, but also hinge your wrists just a little earlier in your takeaway. Also, stop the club short of the horizontal position at the top of the backswing. Try to end with a balanced finish.

Hitting into the rough?whether it?s deep and thick or light and fluffy?doesn?t have to intimidate you. Just gather yourself and make the right adjustments and you?ll overcome the challenge. Also, stay within yourself. Don?t try to do too much. If the rough looks really challenging, punch it out onto the fairway.

The idea is to put yourself in position to hit the next shot, not cost yourself more strokes by hacking away. You may not land on the green with your next swing, but like Trevino and Jacklin, you might just hit a shot that leads to a surprising finish?and maybe a lower handicap.

Kung Fu: History And Basic Principles

The Term:

Historically, the term ?Kung Fu? is not really featured in any ancient texts. It was first coined by a Frenchman named Jean Joseph Marie Amiot, a missionary who lived in the 18th Century, in reference to Chinese martial arts. Kung Fu is also called Gongfu, Wushu, or Kuoshu, and originally denotes expertise in any skill, and not exclusive to martial arts.

Brief History:

The practice, philosophy, and concept of Kung Fu can be traced back to ancient Chinese texts such as Zhuang Zi, Dao De Jing, and Sun Zi Bing Fa (Art of War written by Sun Zi), all written between 1111-255 BC. These texts contain passages related to the practice, propagation, and principles of Chinese martial arts, or Kung Fu as it is known today.

One theory regarding the first written history of Kung Fu suggests that the Yellow Emperor, who reigned from 2698 BC, wrote the first treatise on Chinese martial arts. Others give credit to Taoist monks for introducing an art form that resemble modern Tai Chi around 500 BC. Then in 39-92 AD, Pan Ku included "Six Chapters of Hand Fighting" in his discourse on the history of the Han dynasty (Han Shu). As the popularity of martial arts progressed, a physician named Hua T?uo also wrote his own treatise entitled, ?Five Animals Play" in 220 AD.

Kung Fu had become a common word in the West beginning in the late 1960s, popularized by martial arts movies and TV series. The Western world today has also seen an immense upsurge in the creation and production of martial arts movies starring great actors/masters such as Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

Basic Principles:

The concept of Kung Fu revolves around three basic principles ? Motivation, Self-discipline and Time.

According to experts, the real motivation behind learning Kung Fu is inspiration and not force, which should come from an inner craving to learn and develop the mind and body. Motivation here is the fundamental driving force. There is no external or worldly gain for the learner, and the only reward is that of knowledge, skill, strength and wisdom.

In Kung Fu, discipline is complementary to motivation. Discipline puts motivation into deed and action. A learner has to make an effort into what he has been motivated for, and self-discipline helps him get started and guides him to achieve that goal. Therefore, without discipline, motivation is just a dormant state of mind.

Time is the path to perfection in martial arts. Once motivation and self-discipline have set in, a learner has to spend a considerable amount of time putting mind and body into practice. A truly inspired learner does not have the privilege to waste time, stay idle or indulge in fruitless activities. Everything done by him/her should reflect real motivation and self-discipline.

Variants and Styles:

With the passage of time, numerous variants and styles have come up in martial arts, or Kung Fu. Some of the more popular ones include Karate, Escrima, Wing Chun, Jujitsu, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Shaolin, White Crane, T'ai Chi Ch'uan, and Bagua Zhang.

Five simple but effective ways to look after your Ice Skates

1. Always dry you blades after skating. Dry the steel as much as you can with a towel and put them in terrycloth blade guards. Terrycloth guards are the most effective way of keeping you blades dry, as they will wick the moisture away from the steel. Once blades start to rust, there is often no prevention and it will make little difference how many times you sharpen a blade penetrated by rust. 2. Dry the inside of the boots after using them and wear socks as socks will absorb some of the moisture from your feet and keep it from entering your boots. Moisture is the number one enemy of skates. It is good practice to wipe the outside of the boot after each skate. And especially important for figure skates and non-synthetic leather hockey skates, this ensures that the moisture on the outside does not penetrate the boots. Leather that remains wet will eventually harden and even crack. Leather soles on figure skates should always be snow sealed to keep moisture out. 3. It is very important to find a good blade technician to sharpen you blades. If you do get rust on your blades, you will need to have them sharpened and the sides of the blades stoned as soon as you can, you may be able to grind the rust off before it penetrates deep into the blades. Do not use automatic sharpeners, as they will ruin the contour by making it progressively smaller. Always sharpen you blades manually as this will increase their longevity. Donâ??t over-sharpen your skates. As a rule of thumb, you donâ??t want to even think about sharpening until you have skated for five hours. 4. Do not put you blades in the plastic blade covers as they are for walking in only and not for storage. Moisture left on the blade will get trapped by the plastic guards and will further increase the level rust. Please remember plastic blade covers are highly recommended for walking in however they should never be used for storing skates. Make sure you keep your steel tight on hockey skates, but donâ??t over tighten it. Almost all types of hockey carriers are prone to stripping out if over-tightened. If the screw turns inside the carrier, you will need to replace the entire holder. 5. Always Maintain Your Mountings as loose rivets on hockey skates and loose screws on figure skates can cause detrimental damage to the rest of the boot and blade. Even one or two loose rivets will cause problems as the forces that one loose rivet normally takes have to be redistributed throughout the entire carrier and boot. Where there is one loose rivet, more will follow. With each successive loose one, the force on the others increases. James Earwin - http://www.hockeyskates4u.com

History of Go Carts

What a thrill it must have been, racing around the track in a go cart, a speedy miniature car that had never even existed before. Go carts have only been around for about 50 years, but what an impact they have made on the public in that short period of time.

What started out as a way for airmen in the 1950s to pass the time has turned into a popular worldwide sport for many. Go carts have quickly become a phenomenon all over the globe. With most historians giving Art Ingels the credit for inventing the go cart, he built his very first one back in 1956. But that first go cart was nothing compared to the models we have today. Newer more modern go carts can now travel 160 mph or faster. Now that's amazing.

This miniature Formula One racing machine is referred to by a lot of names including go carts, go karts, go-carts, shifter carts, gocarts, gokarts, enduro carts, and a number of other ways. But one thing is for sure, getting behind the wheel of one of them is exciting. Go carts are related to open-wheel Formula One or Indy Car racing. If you've ever wanted to know what it feels like to race a Formula 1 or Indy Car, while still being as safe as possible, go carts would be your best bet. And that's probably what Michael Schumacher, Sarah Fisher, Darrell Waltrip, Tony Stewart and Kyle Petty all thought when they were kids. They all started their racing careers in go carts. With speeds as high as 160 mph these little machines can travel as fast as the professional race car drivers do on many of their tracks.

There are many different options available today for people that want an exciting vehicle to drive. There are ATVs, dirt bikes, scooters, mopeds, go peds, mini bikes and motorcycles. But go carts are the closest thing you will find to the thrill of Formula 1, NASCAR or Indy Car racing. They are small open-wheeled vehicles with 4 wheels and no suspension. Instead of a suspension they rely on chassis flex. They are basically a smaller version of the professional open wheel race cars.

Many hopefuls who dream of one day racing at the pro level will get their start in go carting. Go carts can be a stepping stone to professional Formula One or Indy Car racing. The reason is that there are many different classes in go carting. No matter what level of experience you have there is a class for you. And as you improve you can move up to increasingly higher classes with greater competition. If you can get to the top in a go cart you may have what it takes for Formula 1 or Indy.

Professional racing is a very expensive sport. But with go carts drivers can get involved on a shoestring budget. It's a cheaper way to get involved with racing. Find out if you have what it takes without breaking the bank to do it.

But go carting is not only for the professionally-minded drivers. Go carts are usually driven by non-professionals, people just like you or me, out for a good time and a lot of excitement. Because anyone can drive one, regardless of their experience level, go carts have become extremely popular all over the world. They can be found in just about every large city either in family fun centers or other venues.

A go cart is made up of a chassis, motor, transmission, seat and 4 tires and a few other odds and ends. As mentioned earlier they have no suspension. The chassis must provide the stiffness and also enough flexibility to allow the cart to grip the road well on the straightaways as well as in the turns. The chassis can be either open or caged. The caged chassis allows protection for the driver in the event of a rollover while the open chassis does not. The cage performs a similar function as does a roll bar.

Engines used in carting are typically either 2-stroke or 4-stroke. They are made by manufacturers such as Honda or Briggs and Stratton among others. You would think that the 4-stroke engines would be more powerful than the 2-stroke engines, but that's not usually the case.

If you have ever wondered how fast go carts can travel you will be amazed at the top speeds. Sprint carts can usually get up to about 60 mph while the more powerful enduro carts can reach a top speed of about 90 mph. And if that's not fast enough for you how about the shifter karts that reach top speeds of 160 mph or more. You heard right, that is not a misprint and these are certainly not toys. These are not the rugged off road gocarts. Transmissions differ from cart to cart, but the shifter carts use a manual transmission with a clutch that allows the driver to get the most out of the motor.

It seems as though every part of the go cart has become a separate entity, a specialized piece of equipment with different options available to the purchaser. And with regard to the tires they are certainly no exception. In dry weather slicks are used. They are smooth tires that grip the road well. And as they heat up while driving they get even better traction. During wet weather tires with treads are needed. These are called rain tires. And of course, how could any respectable driver racing on ice do without specialized spiked tires? That's correct, there are even go cart races on ice in some parts of the world.

With the many different levels available for drivers today anyone can race at a comfortable level. And the sky is the limit to a talented driver. With a lot of practice, a bunch of talent and a little luck you might find yourself racing alongside Tony Stewart someday. It's certainly possible.

Popup Campers ? A Cost-Effective Camper For Those Fun Outdoor Adventures

Camping is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. This experience can be enhanced by using a pop-up camper instead of tents. These campers can be rented for one-time trips, but can also be purchased relatively inexpensively. They are a fun way to travel and camp at your favorite outdoor area.

Popup campers are fairly inexpensive. New trailers can be purchased from $5,000 to $10,000. If you camp often, this may be a great investment. Check the Internet for local dealers in your area and shop for the camper with the features you desire. Used campers are also available. Most dealers who carry new popup campers (also frequently called tent campers) will also have used models available. Check to be sure they are in good condition. This may be the perfect budget solution for regular camping enthusiasts. Rentals range from $300 to $500 for a week or $60 to $80 per day.

Pop-up or tent campers are easily towed by many vehicles. Even smaller cars can handle towing a popup camper but be sure to check weight and hauling requirements before attempting it. You don?t want to wreck the transmission in your vehicle by trying to pull a camper that is too heavy for it. SUV?s and trucks are ideal for hauling a camper. All that is needed is a proper hitch to fit the type of camper and a hookup for the taillights on the camper. The dealer will be able to help determine the type of hitch needed. Another nice feature of a popup camper is that it has a low profile while being towed. This means it won?t obstruct your view while you are towing it.

Popup campers provide comfortable accommodations that are much more secure then a tent. While tents provide minimal shelter, a camper has comfortable beds, protects you from the elements and provides warmth. Most models will unfold into two sleeping areas. This is ideal for families with children. The kids can sleep undisturbed in their area while mom and dad have some privacy.

Smaller campers will have refrigeration units, storage areas, dining areas and cooking devices. This is perfect for more convenient cooking and dining. Some also have outdoor shower facilities and grills for barbecues. The larger, more expensive models may have indoor bath areas and more room, including living area space. These campers are comfortable and convenient. They also provide a much more secure area to stow gear and supplies while you are out exploring the area.

Setting up a pop up camper isn?t hard. You will need to maneuver the camper into the site then unhitch it from your vehicle. Then, crank the camper up (some models have motorized cranks which saves a workout for your arms); pullout and secure the sleeping areas on either end; and pull out and secure the slide-out areas, if your popup camper is equipped with them.

Make sure to crank down the stabilizers or your camper may tip on one end while someone is in it. I speak from experience on this topic. During a camping trip last year, I walked in our popup camper and over to one end to retrieve something from our storage area. Suddenly the camper tipped on its side. It was scary, but everything was okay. The extended bed on that end of the camper prevented the camper from tipping more than a few feet, but I now make it part of my job to make sure the stabilizers are cranked down during every camping trip we take!

The entire process of setting up the camper, including setting up the inside and making the beds takes about 1 hour. Yes, it takes longer to set up than an RV, but a tent camper also costs significantly less.

Whether you are a camping enthusiast or venturing out for the first time, using a pop-up camper is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. You can hike, canoe or go on nature walks and return to the comfort of your camper. Your gear will be safe and you will have a cozy place to eat and sleep without the hassle of building fires and setting up tents. This is an ideal way to enhance your camping experience.

Video Glasses and Personal Media Viewers. Who's Who of Video Glass Makers

Recently there has been a lot of hype around Video Glasses. Gone are the days where Video Glasses weighed a tonne and a ridiculous tron like device strapped to your head. Remember the 3D goggles of the 80s that came with a warning to wear them for 30 seconds at a time. Remember that movie about a lawn keeper that gets super intelligent and eventually sucked into his set of video glasses. OK enough rambling, lets get down to business, video glasses today — who makes them and how far have they come?
First of all, lets look at the major players. Just looking at the true factory manufacturers we have iTheater, iCann (AKA Estar) and Relaxsee and cameo appearances from major brands which we won't include here as they're frankly way out of my budget.
Video Eye Glasses all share the same functionality of a compact pair of glasses projecting a virtual display via two micro screens. To do this they share the same technology and apart from the screens themselves there is little to set them apart than design, build quality and special features such as built in memory.
iTheater Video Glasses made by iTheater VisionTech Limited have been extensively reviewed and are one of the better known brands today. At the time of writing they offer three models; the VG230A, VG920B and the VG920C. If you want higher resolution you are going to want to take either of the 920 models which offer much higher resolution and appear as a 80" virtual screen as opposed to 50" or less. iTheater Video Glasses import the optics from Germany and the US which means the quality is noticeably higher albeit at a price. Design and comfort is pretty good on the higher models although I'm not sure I'd wear the VG230A in public!
iCann or Estar — Estar Display Tech make a larger range of video glasses including models crammed full of features to satisfy the most demanding Geek. Expect to find models with both inbuilt and external batteries greatly affecting the weight and in built memory and memory card support. I particularly liked their 50" model with the build in 4GB hard disk. It still offers external connectivity with the convenience or being able to take them as your all in one media player including mp3. The weight is reasonable, an important factor in internal memory models and they don't look to bad either. The controls are on one of the arms which took some getting used to but is definitely a good thing.
Relaxsee — Shenzhen Live Digital Technology Co. produce a great high value range by keeping the case designs to a minimum. Where they differ is that Relaxsee has focused on offering different feature combinations at relatively low prices. For example they offer 40" screen and 80" screen models with and without 4GB built in memory. What this means for us is that the built in memory video glasses suddenly become more affordable.

My recommendation, I particularly like the look and feel of the iCan 4GB Video Glasses
Alternatively, if you are after higher specs check out the 4GB 80" Video Glasses from Relaxsee

Extreme Sports: Are They Worth The Risk?

Extreme sports like street luging, skateboarding on rails and ramps, and snow boarding off nearly impossible jumps are hotter today than they have ever been before. The athletes who pursue these challenging activities often become as dedicated as Olympians and spend hours every day practicing and improving their technique in order to be able to enjoy the thrill that only making the perfect ollie or dropping a hill on a buttboard can bring. Extreme athletes often refer to the adrenaline rush of competing as being ?amped,? and many say that there is no other feeling in the world that is as satisfying. For most of these rough and tumble athletes, part of the appeal of extreme sports is the danger.

Unlike sports that are regulated by official certified judges and require the athletes to wear protective gear and perform with ship shape equipment, extreme sports competitions sometimes include relatively unprotected athletes competing on somewhat ramshackle paraphernalia, like luge boards made out of skateboards with plywood additions. These conditions lead to greater thrills for many of the participants, because the more dangerous a situation is the more adrenaline the body produces, leading to the feeling of being ?amped.? However, the long term damage that results from the kinds of injuries that many extreme athletes endure often leaves these enthusiastic men and women feeling less than thrilled. Whether or not the excitement of extreme sports is worth the danger is something that nobody can decide but the athlete who is putting his or her body on the line. However, if you or somebody in your life is thinking about joining the hardcore world of extreme sports, it is a good idea to do some research into what common injuries are, and how they can be prevented.

Often, wearing a helmet or certain kinds of padding can make the difference between ending up in the hospital after a wipe-out and walking away with a few pesky bruises. The hazards of every sport are unique, so the kinds of kneepads that a skateboarder favors might not be very much help to a street luger. The only protective gear that will really help an athlete is the gear that is specifically appropriate to his or her sport, so before you put any money into protective gear, read as much as you can about the hazards you are likely to face, and try to get some firsthand advice from experienced athletes in the field you want to be a part of. Many extreme athletes don?t bother with the kind of protective gear that they should be wearing, in part because they worry that kneepads or elbow pads will decrease their cool factor. However, taking care of your body is as important for an extreme athlete as it is for any athlete, if not more so. Even if chucking bales might not seem as exciting with a helmet as it is without one, if you protect yourself you can always be sure that you will have the chance to take another crack at your favorite extreme challenge.

Learning How To Play Golf

Anyone who is considering golf training will be happy to know that there are plenty of ways to learn how to play the game. Every way from the golf course to the internet, the video store and even the classroom will prove to be beneficial for those wanting to learn how to play the great game of golf. Prices will vary depending on the type of training method that is chosen, but can often be quite affordable. This is especially true of those who opt for learning at home through the use of videos or internet lessons. A professional golf trainer, however, will likely be the most expensive way to learn but will provide a hands-on experience that none of the aforementioned options can. If you choose to hire a golf instructor, you will probably want to hire someone who has a lot of experience in either teaching or playing golf. Or, if possible, find someone who has done both. During this training, you will begin to learn the various names for clubs and how each one is used. In the beginning, golf may seem intimidating because of the number of clubs and situations that determine each oneâ??s use. But, after a few lessons, you will be more familiar with the game and how to play it. Patience is the key to learning anything new and golf is no different. Even prior to hiring an instructor, some new golf players may decide to learn some basics of the game before beginning the actual lessons. This can be accomplished by either purchasing books, videos or doing some research online. Either of these methods should provide an introduction to clubs and their use, the proper way to grip and swing. With this information, any new golfer will enter their learning phase with added confidence and will impress their instructor by how much they already know. Not to mention, anything that you can learn beforehand may end up saving you some money on the actual lessons. With that being said, itâ??s important to know that there is nothing wrong with taking golf lessons if you are a true beginner. Even if you have never held a club before or if you think a club is the symbol found in a deck of cards, fear not. Golf instructors are there to help you to learn from scratch if thatâ??s what you need. During your lessons, it will always be a good idea to have access to a set of golf clubs and possibly even practice a little in between lessons. Many golf instructors work one-on-one with their students, while others prefer to educate to a group of individuals. Those who prefer to learn as much as possible, but without doing so with hands-on training may opt for online lessons. The only drawback is that this method does not provide actual practice, which can be sought separately by the learner. Friends and family can often provide valuable insight in helping one to learning how to play golf without professional instruction.

Soundproofing a shooting or firing range

Many cities and municipalities are looking for state of the art soundproofing products and procedures for soundproofing a public, private, or and even home shooting ranges. The soundproofing materials used must be impervious to smoke and gunpowder residue and must be resilient (able to take a round without disintegrating) and easy to clean. Some folks feel that convoluted foam mat (bedding or egg crate foam) will work in such applications. This is a completely wrong assumption because convoluted foam is an open celled foam and has no soundproofing qualities whatsoever.
So how do you get both absorption and sound blocking from one product, that is impervious to moisture and will stand up the rigors of a live firing range? Many large cities have contacted me desperately looking for just such a material and believe it or not we have exactly what they are looking for. It's the closed cell vinyl nitrile America mat and it has been used in many different ranges throughout the country. It is extremely flame retardant and only absorbs water into the first 6% to 8% of the mat. We have found through real life experience that this absorbed moisture dissipates rapidly and never causes mold, mildew, or deterioration. America mat is both a blocker and absorber that is extremely resilient and versatile in the shooting environment. The mat comes in thick nesses of ¼" all the way up to 2" thick, but we have found that in most instances the ½" America mat does the job. This foam mat would be adhered directly to the walls and ceiling of the range tunnel and in some cases it would even be adhered to the floor. This will provide complete coverage thus forcing the sound to be absorbed into the mat and with no way out it dissipates rapidly. Major shooting ranges have used this foam mat even on outdoor ranges where the material is exposed to the elements. Now we really don't recommend direct exposure of this material to the elements (especially in the snow), but the feedback we have received in such applications has been favorable indeed. This material has been used in the cities of Boston, New York, Oceanside California, and Kansas City and all the feedback was positive. The thicker the foam, the better the results, but for a basic handgun range, the ½" America mat should be sufficient. There are many other applications for America mat, but one of the most popular is for shooting ranges. It is a phenomenal product.
There is now a new product that is also used extensively in firing ranges and police training facilities. This new product is called Silent panel. I will talk more about Silent panels in my next article. Thanks for reading and learning about soundproofing a firing range. Training To Be A Better Court Volleyball Player

To be a great court volleyball player you need to be powerful, energetic, graceful, and able to handle the ball with finesse. This kind of spectrum of requirements calls for a unique training regimen. There are a lot of different ideas about how to best accomplish this goal, but most coaches and experts agree that it is important to undergo a course of training that includes a wide variety of different kinds of exercises that will help you develop all of these abilities. Training for an upcoming season of competitive court volleyball requires a diverse regimen of strength training, endurance building, and technique improvement.

Many people who want to improve their volleyball game spend a lot of time practicing important moves like serving and spiking the ball. These are the fundamentals of the game, and unless you can serve accurately and spike with a lot of force, you will probably not be able to lend your team very much support. It is important to gain some mastery of these elements of volleyball before you start to focus on other, less crucial aspects of your performance.

Once you have a solid grasp on the key maneuvers of the game, it is time to move on to making sure that you are the strongest, quickest athlete you can be. Having a great spike won?t prove to be very useful if you can never get to the ball! It is important to train both the lower and the upper body to be a great volleyball player. You will need strong arms and shoulders in order to send the ball flying, so weight lifting to improve your biceps and other upper body muscles is a key part of any volleyball training regimen. It is also important to spend some time developing your legs and lower body, especially the calves and glutes because this can help you send your jumps sky high. Strong legs are the powerhouse that fuel a good volleyball team member. A player who has the time and dedication to improve all of these different muscle groups will have quite an advantage over a competitor who has concentrated solely on one or the other.

Once you have improved your strength and your skill, it is time to focus on agility. The lighter you can be on your feet, the safer and more effective a player you will become. Court volleyball is very much about being able to move quickly while avoiding collisions with other players. Any volleyball athlete can benefit from improving his or her reflexes.

Most injuries on the court happen when players crash into each other while running, jumping, or diving for the ball. If you can learn to respond instantaneously to the movements of other players you will able to protect yourself and your teammates from this kind of common, and often painful, mishap.

A Look At How Boat Lifts Work And The Different Types

Boat lifts are used to lift the boat and store the boat above the water surface. Boat lifts are generally of two types. They are i) Hydro hoist model and ii) the Air-Dock model. Boat lifts are manufactured keeping in mind the different sizes of the boats.

Boat lifts work on the principle of lifts and hoists. In Hydro hoist type model there are float tanks that have a drain fitting at the bottom which is always open to the water. The boats are lifted with the help of hoists that are driven by heavy motors. The Hydro-Hoist boat lifts are of several types such as Boat Floater, Econo Lift and others. In the case of Air Dock the pressure of air is required to uplift the boat to a certain height above the water surface. With Air Dock type boat lifts there is a water tank which is filled and evacuated with the air pressure. Here the air is pumped in from the atmosphere to force the water out of the water tanks thus lifting the hoist. To lower down the hoists, one should vent the air pressure to allow water to fill the again tank.

Generally a motor with a blower is attached which is about the size of a vacuum cleaner motor. These motors blow the air out of the float tanks. Each tank has a hole at opposite ends, where the hose is attached. These holes are about 4 inches in diameter. An electric switch is used to turn on the blower and a valve. To raise the boat lift the valve is opened and the blower motor turned on. It can be left on until air bubbles are out of the 4 inch holes, this is the maximum lift that can be obtained. Once the boat is lifted to the desired height the valve is manually closed and all the air is retained in the tanks. When the boat is to be launched the valve is opened and the captured air from the tank escapes past the blower and the lift settles into the lake.

Different new technologies are adopted regularly to enhance the working principles of boat lifts. These new technologies are a floating drive-on dry lifting system which makes existing technology obsolete. Fully portable, changeable and modular boat lifts will work in shallow water or deep water, fresh, tides or salt water, currents and even waves. These boat lifts have the power to lift boats of different sizes, from small boats to large watercrafts. Drive-on floating docks even replace those traditional lifts, boat hoists, davits & trailers and provide a convenient dry-dock for stern drives, outboard boats, inboard ski boats and jet boats of all sizes and shapes.

Tennis Drills: Improving Your Skills Without A Court

Every tennis players wants to improve his or her game, and over time most players get better. However, all too many players are willing to dedicate the time and energy it requires in order to take their skills to the next level of excellence; but find that limited access to a court is keeping them from achieving their goals. If this sounds all too familiar, try some of these off court drills. By learning how to practice your tennis technique without needing a court or a net you can turn a backyard, or even a garage, into your personal tennis training gym.

The most effective thing you can do to improve your game when you don?t have access to a court or a partner is to build your endurance and do footwork drills. Making a regular practice of following increasingly challenging jogging routes will help you build the kind of endurance that will help you keep your energy levels high throughout even the most challenging games. To keep from injuring yourself during a jog, be sure to do a full set of warm-up and cool down stretches.

In addition to covering some ground as a jogger, it is a good idea to make up your own personal footwork drills so that you will be able to put your newfound endurance on the courts to full use by exploring your full range of lower body movement. Going through even a short daily regimen of slides, backwards jogs, side steps, kicks, jumps, and other low-impact aerobic moves will help you become more agile. Being light on your feet can give you a huge advantage when you are running for the ball. The more effortlessly you can slide, skip, run, and bounce on the court, the more graceful and efficient your play will become. If you have access to a lot of open air space like a large field or park, try playing a bit of tennis golf as a break from your regular drills.

The game of tennis golf may sound strange, but it is actually a great way to have a lot of fun while improving your tennis skills. You can play alone or with a group of friends. If you play in a group, make sure that everyone has a way to distinguish his or her unique ball. A round or two of tennis golf can help you increase your serving power and accuracy while having a great time. Like regular golf, the objective of tennis golf is to get your ball to a set spot in as few serves as possible. A landmark like a specific tree in an open field is a great place to aim for. Serve the ball as powerfully as you can and try to hit your target. Wherever your ball lands, go to it and serve it again from there. By playing in different kinds of terrain, you will be able to develop your serving skills in a variety of situations that call for different levels of power and precision. The confidence and accuracy you gain from playing tennis golf can translate to a better performance on the court.

Self Defense And Psychological Preparedness

Being psychologically prepared is critical for self defense during an assault in the street. It is very important to be ready to repel the assailant (assailants) using all the means you have. Note that even being in not very good physical shape these means could be quite sufficient to disable your enemy (enemies).

For example, if you wear hard sharp-toe shoes, then kicking your enemy in groin or shank with the toe of such shoe (even if there are no years of practice behind this kick) immediately makes him writhe with pain for several moments. And this gives you enough time to either disable the enemy or simply run away.

Scratching facer using fingernails also causes pain shock to your enemy and makes him unable to resist for some time. Remembering how dangerous a furious cat can be for people is enough to understand this.

In several cases, a furious cat is known to make its owners hide in one of the rooms and wait for the police to come and help them. Police officers in this situation often have to use guns to protect themselves and rescue the owners of the animal.

Now let's take a look at a cat, its weight is about 30 times less than that of a man. And this tiny thing can resist police officers armed with firearms. That's one thing. The other thing is that a common schoolboy, who tortures a cat giving it a hard time, can cope with it, the cat doing nothing to protect itself.

Now you can see the difference between a man employing everything he has at hand to give furious resistance to an assault, and a man who does not resist at all or makes poor attempts to resist.

So we see, at one hand, the enraged and furiously attacking cat that a couple of armed policemen cannot restrain, and, on the other hand, a meek unresisting cat that a little boy can easily handle. The difference is very substantial. This example clearly shows that the more furious and fast you resistance, the more chances you have to win the fight.

I remember a story told me by my disciple about one weak man small in stature, who succeeded in protecting himself against a husky trained fellow with the black belt in taekwondo, who assaulted him.

This small man was so furious and fearless giving his much stronger offender a hail of blows (weak and unskilled as they were) as to shock the guy and made him only try to cover himself from the blows.

One would think what chances had this tiny, middle-aged man, who has never gone in for any sport in a fight against a young and well-trained in taekwondo school guy with the black belt. Any one would say he had no chance. However, it all turned out badly for no one, but the young insolent beggar.

Why, after all, the winner was that small man, who had no chance to win. It is very simple. The moment the fight began, he had his consciousness fully blocked; he acted automatically guided by his subconsciousness.

At the moment, he had nothing in his mind, but the enemy and the thought of disabling that enemy by any means possibly. At that moment, his consciousness was, as it were, at one with the Universe. He feared nothing since the sense of fear was gone from him.

He had neither diffidence nor other impeding factors, that's why all his actions became TRUE ones. Even though he had not much power and skill, but all he had he putted in each blow. So that's why, seemingly, with no chance to succeed he won the unequal fight.

Quite contrarily, his enemy was stiffened with fear and uncertainty as a result of this sudden and furious repel. Who could ever dare to attack him, as he was so strong and practiced fighter, he thought. Certainly not this small man, who, as it seemed, was supposed to be trembling with fear.

But it turned out so that it was that strong and trained beef, who had a weak spirit. At the critical moment, his will, composure and fighting skills failed him. He simply got scared and confused, and, as a result, was defeated by a weaker and less skilled opponent.

Purchasing Quality Golf Equipment at Affordable Prices

Perhaps one of the most important factors in influencing the decision to start any new sport is cost. Golf unlike some sports requires a plethora of golf equipment from the beginning including golf clubs, accessories, balls, shoes and suitable clothing — especially if you're considering to take-up the sport in winter; put simply, golf equipment is a huge part of the game and entry costs such as lessons, membership and driving range fees can be equally so. Before the dawn of online retailing the pro shop, franchised high street store and direct mail organisations held the monopoly on ?expensive' golf equipment. Ever increasing overheads were inherent to such retail outlets — with margins especially tight on top branded golf equipment — retailers were faced with two options; absorbing (to a point) all overheads or increasing their prices. As a beginner you'll most likely be looking to invest in a beginner's set of clubs. If like so many of us you've tried out the local driving range with a selection of used golf clubs —you'll probably have noticed a pro-shop within the club house. If you take a look at the price of an average golf club set, you'll notice that the price will most likely be over your budget; the same is also true for other items of golf equipment including golf shoes and balls. A Saturday morning trip to your local shopping centre can also provide an opportunity to find new golf equipment — large high street chains like JJB and Sports Soccer both stock a limited range of equipment for the beginner. Prices can appear on the surface to offer exceptional value; golf sets from £99.99 for example. Unfortunately, like all ?high-street' retailers - the price will reflect the enormous overheads of retailing offline. Choice is another factor often missing in the high street; these stores are limited to the number of lines they can carry for one sport — ?one-size-fits-all' is common-place in the high street. The Internet on the other hand offers a wealth of discount golf equipment. The Sports HQ for example offers the complete package for golfers — stocking hundreds of lines from well-known manufacturers and offering exceptional discounts on its exclusive range of golf brands including Confidence, Prosimmon, Texan Classics and Chicago Golf. These brands are produced exclusively for The Sports HQ — shipped direct from the manufacturer and supplied through one of the many websites operated by the group including: TheSportsHQ.com, Golfballs.co.uk, GolfGear.co.uk and JuniorGolf.co.uk From a beginner's perspective an online store like The Sports HQ can provide the complete golfing outfit within budget and delivered the same week. Like many of us feeling the squeeze in the current economic climate — purchasing a complete golfing outfit for the beginner — on a budget, is a tall order. It can often prove more expensive purchasing individual items of golf equipment in the long term instead of purchasing the entire outfit from the start. Online retailers can pass on incredible savings to the customer through low overheads, stocking more lines and supplying golf equipment direct from the manufacturer. A beginner's set of clubs for example can be purchased for less than fifty pounds — including a stand bag; again, the benefits of retailing online become apparent — the golf set in question can be purchased in men's, ladies and left-handed editions. If you're searching for a perfect gift at Christmas for a junior golfer — golf sets can be purchased at JuniorGolf.co.uk from £29.99 — the new junior golf equipment website from Sports PLC. Any newcomer to the game on his or her first experience of a golf course will find themselves having to invest in a pair of waterproof golf shoes and a plentiful supply of golf balls. A quick browse of The Sports HQ website reveals enormous savings on both items of golf equipment — two pairs of leather (waterproof) golf shoes for under thirty pounds; 2-dozen lake balls (perfect for any beginner prone to losing balls) from £4.99. Suddenly the reality of purchasing an entire golf outfit on a budget is a reality — most online shops will offer one shipping charge when multiple items are purchased at the same time — items can also be delivered the next working day at a small additional cost.

Whew, At Least Its Not A Sewing Winged Needle.

Let me tell you a story of how I learned about the most important part on my sewing machine. I had just finished teaching a beginning sewing class to a group of eight year olds. The words were still ringing in my own ears.

â??Never, never put your left hand behind the needle. Never, never pull your fabric through. Just let the machine move the fabric.â??

It was only an hour or so later, and I was in a big hurry to finish a job for a customer. I quickly sat down and started to sew at top speed. Someone called from the other room, and I looked up. It was only a second, but it was long enough.

There I was, my left hand was gripping the fabric and starting to pull it through, when suddenly, â??Ouch!â?? Pain. I mean, Pain brought me back to what I was doing. Everything stopped for at least an hour, although the clock only clicked a second or two. When I looked down, there my finger was under the needle bar and on top of the presser foot. The needle stuck all the way through my finger. As soon as I got my wits about me, I grabbed the hand wheel and turned it forward pulling the needle out of my finger.

â??Never, Never, Never, Neverâ?¦.â?? I knew right then why I said those words.

With ice wrapped around my finger, I sit back down at my sewing machine.
What a relief, there is no blood on the customerâ??s project.

Whew, At Least Itâ??s Not A Sewing Winged Needle.

As I sat there, I started thinking about that needle. It is a pretty amazing little part. Oh, yes, it is shiny and pretty, but it is also sharp. That needle, so often forgotten, deserved my full attention. Indeed, it is vital to everything I sew. I would say, that needle is perhaps the most important part on my sewing machine.

Here is a list of why I think the needle is the most important part on my sewing machine:
1. It carries the upper thread to the right place to form a stitch.
2. Without the needle, no stitch could form.
3. It interacts with the hook to create a loop and wrap the thread with the bobbin thread to form a stitch.
4. Without the needle, no stitch could form.
5. The needle punctures the fabric without leaving a trace (usually).
6. The needle moves in harmony with the stitch selection to form hundreds of different stitches just by the way it moves.
7. The needle comes in special forms: sizes, points, and eyes.
8. Specialty needles achieve special results: Sharp needles for wovens, Ball points for knits, Quilting Needles, Embroidery Needles, Leather Needlesâ?¦
9. When the needle gets dull, the stitch is messed up, but you can change the needle to get perfect results right away.
10. My $8,000 sewing machine depends on my fifty cent needle for every stitch.

It is important to appreciate the little things in life, because they usually are the most important. Like the needle which is the most important part on my sewing machine.

My finger healed. The customerâ??s project was finished on schedule. The children in my class the next day learned painlessly, if not somewhat humorously, why never to pull the fabric through the machine or even put your hand behind the needle. Of course, I have this story to tell again and again, my own special sewing treasure.

Knowing needles is a vital part of sewing and quilting. A sewing machine needles guide is a helpful tool to understand the many different kinds of sewing machine needles and their uses. Choosing the right needle for the project makes the whole project go quicker and easier. Pictures of needles can also help the user to better understand why one needle is preferred over another. There are a variety of specialty needles the user will find useful including twin needles and the sewing winged needle. Sewing is a very safe hobby, but there are some important safety tips for sewing machines like the one in this storyâ?"keep your hands in front of the needle at all times.

In my new book, "Sewing, The Worlds Greatest Hobby", I have included pictures of needles, a practical sewing machine needle guide, and discussion of specialty needles like the sewing winged needle. It also includes safety tips for sewing machines, and over 200 pages of useful information for sewing and quilting. My new book is available at Sewing Answers. Com or Sew And Quilt Store. Com.

History And Fundamentals Of Karate

History:

Though Karate is often associated with Japanese martial arts, its true origin dwells in Okinawan combat techniques and Southern Chinese martial arts. It is basically a fusion of both arts and was introduced to Japan only in 1921. During this period, Karate was simply known as "Te", or hand, as called by the Okinawans. Chinese influence is evident in the original symbol for Karate - the "Tang Hand" or ?Chinese Hand?.

There were no specified or concrete Karate styles in the early days and simply generalized as Shuri-te, Naha-te and Tomari-te, named after the three cities in which they were formed. Each city had its own methods, principles, system and traditions of Karate.

The introduction, popularization and modernization of Karate to Japan are mainly credited to Funakoshi, an Okinawan master, venerably regarded by many practitioners as ?The Father of Modern Karate?. Other prominent Karate experts in his time include Kenwa Mabuni, Miyagi Chojun, Choshin Chibana, and Motobu Choki.

Japan began introducing Karate as a subject in schools before the Second World War and soldiers in the army were often trained in the discipline. Competitions and different styles also started emerging as several universities started karate club programs during this period.

The popularization of Karate in the West has its roots in the American military occupation of Japan and Okinawa after the Second World War, and Japanese immigration to the United States.

Fundamentals of Karate:

Karate mainly stresses on volatile combat techniques such as punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open hand methods. Grappling, joint manipulations, locks, restraints, throwing, and vital point striking are also parts of this discipline.

Karate training is divided into three main sections ?

? Kihon refers to the study of basic techniques, movements and components
? Kata or 'form', a fixed sequence of moves, is a series of movements and techniques linked together by the combatative principles that the kata expresses.
? Kumite or 'sparring' evovles from well-defined kata to open attack and defense.

The Uniform ? Color of the Belt and Ranks:

The Karate uniform is white and comprised of the Kimono (shirt), Dogi or Keikogi (pants) and a belt (white or colored), a combination introduced by Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo. The color of the belt is dependant on the rank and expertise of a practitioner. In accordance with commonly held standards, white belts are for beginners, and black for the highest rank. This, howver, may differ from one organization to another. Each rank may also have subdivions of its own even if the color of the belt is similar.
Styles and Variations:

Karate styles can be broadly classified into Traditional and Full Body Karate. Traditional styles are those that developed in the early period of the 20th century and include variants such as Shotokan, Goju-ryu, Wado-ryu, Shito-ryu, Kushin-ryu, and Shindo Jinen Ryu. Full contact karate includes styles such as Kyokushin-kaikan and Kansuiryu. Many of the styles have offshoots that developed into styles of their own. Although the concepts remain universal, each representation differ from one another.

San Francisco Giants Tickets

San Francisco Giants are one of the main and most popular League Baseball team based in San Francisco, California. Giants play in the West Division of the National League. Giants were in early days originally known as Gothams, they started as a second baseball club by John B. Day and Jim Mutrie. Giants were Day and Mutrieâ??s real entry to the National League, although their other clubs, the Metropolitans (known as original Mets) were playing in the American Association. Initially Metropolitans were more successful club but then Day and Mutrie moved top players to the Gothams, which lead the team to win its first National League pennant in 1888. After this splendid fulfilling victory, Mutrie (who was also the team's manager) came in the dressing room and out of his pleasure and excitement shouted, "My big fellows! My giants!â?? And from there onwards, the club was called as the Giants. They saw high time as a team in the beginning and also bring out some remarkable top class players but on the whole they didnâ??t come off with flying colors, they struggled a lot, but couldnâ??t prove their best. San Francisco Giants history. In Contrary to the times in New York, Giants in San Francisco have diverse fortune. However lately Giants has enjoyed comparatively persistent triumph, there have been stretched times of unevenness, especially they were threatened when the club's ownership periled to move the club out of San Francisco. The most unfortunate part of the story is that Giants managed to have a huge fan base since they arrive in the city, but Giants couldnâ??t so far thrive for a World Series title for San Francisco. When there was a break in Seals Stadium, Giants shifted to Candlestick Park, which was also known as "The Stick" but unfortunately that very stadium proved to be one of the most hostile stadiums in the sports history. It was sealed in 1961. Giants stopped playing in that stadium which was later on named as 3Com Park and then Monster Park. Giants never won a World Series after moving to San Francisco, but they were always close, playing in three of them. Giants couldnâ??t make any other World Series until 1989, but still Giants of the '60s sustained to be pennant contenders and the gratitude goes to several future hall-of-famers, like Gaylord Perry, who pitched in 1968 a no-hitter for the Giants; Juan Marichal, another pitcher with a unforgettable high-kicking delivery; McCovey, the National League MVP award winner in 1969, and Mays, who have the all-time franchise record for most home runs, he also hit his 600th career home run in 1969. The post-season appearance of the Giants was in 1971. Giants were effortlessly defeated in the League Championship Series by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Roberto Clemente after winning their division. 1970s also proved to be a despairing decade for Giants. Bob Lurie bought the team, to save it from being moved to Toronto in 1976. The decade of 1980â??s also couldnâ??t bring any success for the giants. Giants hired a black manager Frank Robinson 1981, though Robinsonâ??s tenure only lasted for 4 years. 1985 was the worst year in the history of San Francisco Giants. They lost 100 games (the most number of failures since moving to San Francisco). The owner then hired Al Rosen as general manager. In his management Giants gifted rookies like Will Clark, Robby Thompson, and gained players as Kevin Mitchell, Dave Dravecky, Candy Maldonado, and Rick Reuschel. Roger Craig remained Giants' new manager from 1985 to 1992. Giants never faced a losing record in Craigâ??s first five full seasons. That was a splendid change for teamâ??s future. Having an exceptional motto, "Humm Baby" during Roger Craig's leadership, Giants stood victorious in 83 games in 1986 and also win the National League Western Division title in 1987. Giants also won the National League pennant in 1989. 1989 proved even a better year for the Giants. After a long awaited period of 27 years, the San Francisco Giants finally were the champions of the National League. After defeating the Cubs, they confronted the Oakland Athletics in "Bay Bridge Series". That series was perhaps the best cherished due to the Loma Prieta earthquake on October 17, 1989 interrupted the intended Game 3 of the series at Candlestick Park. Oakland completed up its sweep of San Francisco, after a ten-day delay in the series. Later on the Barry Bonds started a new dawn with a blast. Bonds created numbers for the third MVP of his career: 46 homers, 129 runs, 123 RBI, .336/. 458/. 677/1.135. Giants get a smashing record of 103-59 in Dusty Baker's first year as manager. Which also benefited Baker as he got the â??Manager of the Year awardâ??. Once again the period form 1994 to 1996 was not a rewarding time. Due to these dreadful times, Giants were led to name Brian Sabean as new general manager, replacing Bob Quinn. Prior to being named GM, Brian Sabean was already whispered to have masterminded the agreement to dig up Kirk Rueter from the Montreal Expos. His first trade as GM, stunned Giants fans throughout the world when he traded Matt Williams for apparently a handful of spare parts, and the criticism was grand enough for him to have to openly explain: "I didn't get to this point by being an idiot... I'm sitting here telling you there is a plan." And for sure Sabeanâ??s plan worked out, because the players he got in the Williams trade - Jeff Kent, Jose Vizcaino, Julian Tavarez, and Joe Roa (also the 1 million dollar cash enabled them to sign Darryl Hamilton) â?" in addition his trade for J.T. Snow made the Giants to win their first NL West division title of the 1990s in 1997. Unluckily, the Florida Marlins ended the Giants' season by defeating them by a 3-0. And Marlins moved on their way to first World Series championship. 40 years later in 2000 at Candlestick, Giants opened their own privately financed ballpark, naming Pacific Bell Park. The team shocked everyone by having the best record in the National League. It was actually 2002 when the Giants again became the center of attention. Giants beaten Atlanta Braves in the NLDS three games to two and later on defeated the St. Louis Cardinals four games to one. Giantâ??s performance was out class in the World Series and they were about to win when The Angels made a come back and win the championship, which really dishearten the Giantâ??s fans. After this agonizing failure they once more recorded 100 victories for the seventh time in franchise history and for the third time in San Francisco. Year 2004 as well dramatically changed the whole scene, when the Dodgers rise above the Giants in a late season game, winning on a Steve Finley. Next year, 2005 was the most depressing season of 2000s for the Giants. Giants celebrated in honor of Baseball Hall of Famer Juan Marichal On May 25, 2005. On July 14, 2005, Giants won their 10,000th contest beating their competitors, the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-3, becoming the first professional sports franchise to have five digits in their winning total. Unfortunately Giants were formally eliminated from the NL West race when they lose to the 2005 champion San Diego Padres. San Francisco Giants finished the season in third place, with a record of 75-87, which was their worst season - and first losing record - since 1996. In 2006 Slugger Barry Bondsâ?? return alone should mean a better offense. Fans anticipate the Giants to do better then their 75-87 records in 2005. Finley is an appealing surprise. Finley hit 36 home runs, which were a career high in 2004. The Giants have great expectations from Finley, it is expected that he can have a bounce back year and possibly can hit 30 or more home runs hitting along side Bonds and Alou. Sweeney is allowed to hit regularly so that he may astonish the fans. Niekro also should bloom with better hitters around him. There is a much-polished lineup with a vigorous Bonds returning. If Schmidt and Matt Morris could also manage a similar performance as he did last year (14 wins) then the starting rotation will be solid as well. Lowry and Hennessey also have to groom themselves in 2006 with more innings under their belts. The Giants are also looking forward to a full season from closer Armando Benitez, which should also help the bullpen. Giants should perform much better in 2006 and will chase the Padres for the NL West title. Giants always have their unique style of having a smashing come back. And their fans donâ??t expect anything less then this from their all time favorite Giants. For more details visit http://www.ticketnest.com/sports-tickets/San-Francisco-Giants/index.php

Tips to improve your putting skills

Tips to improve your putting skills Putting Sometimes you get on the golf course and everything feels great and you are sinking putts like a pro. Other times you feel like you would do just as well kicking the ball across the green and into the hole. The last time you played, you felt the same way as you do now but nothing seems to be going as well for you, like it did the last time. What do you think happened? Are you having a bad day or can you just blame it on having bad luck? Putting is not a game of chance. Sometimes it feels like it is but for youâ??re putting problems you can sum it up with one word. Tension You must keep your muscles relaxed while you are putting. If you do this then your shots will become more and more accurate. Having stiff muscles makes it harder to put and have a smooth follow through. If you are tensing up, this will just make it harder to putt. Having your muscles relaxed will give you a smooth movement and help to sink those putts. Trying to tense up will only cause you problems. You will notice that when you are having a good day putting, you are confident and will have a smooth, free movement. When you miss an easy putt, you become tense and you try much harder to sink that putt. The tenser you are the more freedom you lose and there goes your putting game. Making a good shot when you are tense is pretty much near impossible. If you start stiffing up your whole body, you will lose the freedom of being completely relaxed to make a good shot. Yes, you will make some shots but it will not be consistent. You need to stay relaxed. You can try to copy your favorite Professional golfer but in the end it all boils down to, you need to just relax your muscles and loosen up. My one word of advice to you is to stay relaxed and everything else will fall into place or should I say into the hole. This will improve your game and you will soon be putting with confidence and enjoy your whole day on the golf course. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For More Information About Putting Tips Click Here

Golfing Tips

If you are a golfer you might notice on the PGA and LPGA tours that professional golfers all swing in a similar way. Watching them on television they seem to have the perfect golf swing. Each individualâ??s swing looks different, but they all share the same basic elements. First is the grip, next is the aim and then the set up. With much practice, eventually your swings start to repeat themselves. Even if you can manage to make a swing look funny or unconventional, the actual mechanics of a perfect golf swing will stay the same. The golf swing is a simple procedure, and one that is often made overly complicated by players. First, a perfect golf swing must have good rhythm. You cannot make an accurate forward swing unless you take your time with the rhythm and motion. If your swing is too fast back then the club and body are working against each other. Remember that your objective is to create speed on the downsizing, not the back swing. A fast back swing will mess up the motion and rhythm of a shot and give most of the power to the hands. For better rhythm and motion take the club away slowly. Next, a good back swing should start with your arms not your hands. As the club starts back, your left shoulder and hips should turn naturally so that your weight can transfer to the right side. The hands should start to set at about waist high. As the club rises to the top, the shoulders continue to turn. It is important to have your hands set not broken down. If you over swing at the top, it might create negative club speed and cause a not so perfect golf swing. Thirdly, when you downsize your objective is to return the club head to the ball with maximum but controllable speed. Too hard of a downsizing can also cause a perfect golf swing to go wrong. Players who pull with their left arm from the top will have all their whole body working in the shot and will likely hit a more consistent swing. Players who tries and lead the downsizing with the left side however might slide ahead of the ball upon impact and ruin a near perfect golf swing. Finally, in completing a swing you must have a good high finish. The clubface needs to stay square for several inches after impact in order to get a ball to fly. In addition, all that weight that you transferred to the right side in the back swing, must now transfer to the left side. A good finish will see your right knee facing the target, your right foot up so that all spikes are visible and your hands high and close to your left ear. So go out there and hit a perfect golf swing! If anyone asks you how you did it, be sure to tell them that itâ??s just natural talent.

How To Prepare For A Golf Tournament

Preparing for a golf tournament, as golf instruction explains, is one of the keys to playing your best golf. If you play in golf tournaments, develop a pre-tournament routine that prepares you for the day ahead.

One challenge when preparing for a tournament is time. You might not have much before teeing off, so make sure you get to the course early as possible. A pre-tournament routine gets the most of the time you have and lets you work on a lot of things in a short amount of time. Structure in practice is something that golf lessons preach anyway.

Many routines start with stretching. It warms you up. It helps prevent injuries. And it loosens the muscles. Many golf tips describe stretches you can incorporate into a sound stretching sequence.

Include stretches that focus on those muscles receiving the greatest stress during your swing. Target areas are your trunk, thighs, arms, shoulders, neck, and back. The sitting trunk rotation stretch and the shoulder-and-thigh stretch are two good stretches to include in your routine. These stretches may not lower your golf handicap, but they will help you avoid some common injuries as you get older.

A pre-tournament routine also includes time on a practice tee. Before hitting, take two or three clubs from your bag and swing them a few times, just as many golf tips suggest. This exercise warms you up and prepares your muscles before hitting a ball. Next, start hitting balls. Begin with a wedge to get a feel for your swing, then move to a mid-iron. Work on swing technique while you hit the wedge and mid-iron. Concentrate on your swing trigger, if you have one. Approach it the same way you would your golf lessons.

After a few minutes of working on your swing, start hitting the ball. Imagine yourself out on the course and in a specific situation. Use your pre-shot routine. Visualize each shot. And hit it as if the shot counted. Note the distances you hit each shot that day. Knowing how well you?re hitting a club helps during the tournament when it?s time to choose a club.

Select specific targets and try to hit them. It?s important to play target golf, even on the practice tee. In fact, play target golf whenever you hit a golf ball, unless you?re working on a specific swing fault. It helps you get the most out of each practice session, as many golf lessons explain.

Work on those shots that you might encounter during the tournament ?punch shots, fades, and draws. Practice any type of shot that you think might help during the tournament. Hit a few of each. Use the same techniques emphasized in golf instruction manuals.

Finally, a good pre-tournament routine includes putting. The star drill helps you get the most out of your time on the tee. Find a hole on the practice green that has a slight slope to it. Then take five balls and spread them in a star pattern around the hole about 3 feet away. Practice putting from this distance. Them move the balls out to 4 feet, always keeping them in the star pattern.

By spreading the balls out in a star pattern, you get the most common putts you?ll face on the course. Pick out a target line. Visualize the ball going in before putting. Then putt the ball. Do it just the way golf lessons recommend. Also, try lagging a few long putts, just to get the feel for it. Spend about 15 or 20 minutes putting, if you have time. There are other drills you can use in place of the star drill. The key is finding one that works for you.

Golf lessons tell you to keep your head down when putting. Use your pre-tournament routine to work on keeping your head down on putts 5 feet or less. The earlier you look up on short putts, the more likely it is you?ll miss. Many professional golfers, including Nick Faldo, wait until they hear the sound of the ball hitting the bottom of the cup or know the ball has definitely missed the cup before looking up. It?s a good way to force yourself to keep your head down.

Another challenge when playing in a tournament is that you might be playing a course for the first time. If that?s the case, find someone who has played the course and ask him or her how it plays. Find out as much information about the course as you can. That knowledge will help you during the tournament. Actually, this is good advice anytime you play a new course. Good course management can help you lower your golf handicap.

Playing in golf tournaments is fun. It?s a chance to play different formats and different courses, ones you might not play otherwise. It?s also a chance to play against golfers with a variety of golf handicaps. To play your best golf, develop a pre-tournament routine and follow it the day of the event.

Golf Flexibility Exercises Can Improve Your Shoulder Turn

I had a very interesting conversation during my workout this morning at the gym. I was performing a series of golf flexibility drills (Tops, Windmills, & Spiders to be exact) and a friend and very good golfer approached me.

My friend, local club champion and a scratch golfer, was asking me about the series of flexibility exercises I was working on.

He said; ?Sean, I have watched your workouts and they seem to be very athletically oriented.
I know you work on the PGA Tour and with Phil.

Those exercises you were just doing, what are they exactly for, and how can they help my golf swing??

I get quite a few of these questions like this and my reply to him was as follows:

?First off the golf swing is an athletic movement (if you disagree with me on that point, go play 4 rounds of golf in four 4 days and get back to me).

It requires a high level of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power to execute the swing correctly.

Knowing this you need to develop these physical characteristics (Flexibility, Balance, Strength, Endurance, and Power) within your body.

This will create the foundation upon which you can build an efficient and powerful golf swing. Lets take a quick a look at these concepts before moving onto some specifics.

Flexibility, in relation to the golf swing, is the ability to draw the club through the proper range of motion. A full golf swing requires you to draw the club through a long range of motion. In order to perform this action correctly the muscles within your body must be flexible.

If your muscles are inflexible the ability to draw the club through the correct range of motion will be compromised, resulting in compensations in your golf swing.

Secondly, the golf swing requires a high level of balance. Balance is often thought of as a responsibility of golf swing mechanics only. The reality of the situation is balance is a component of both efficient golf swing mechanics and the body.

The interaction of the muscular and nervous systems is responsible for your balancing capacities. These two systems regulate center of gravity, proprioception, and limb movement. If you have poor balancing capacities a directly negative effect will be seen in your golf swing.

Introducing balance exercises can improve the ability of your body to regulate its? center of gravity, know where it is in ?space? (proprioception), and regulate limb movement. This will have a direct benefit upon your golf swing.

Thirdly, the golf swing requires you to maintain a fixed spine angle, and rotate around this spine angle during the swing. In order to perform the swing correctly and maintain a fixed spine angle it is necessary to have high levels of muscular strength.

Muscular strength in relation to the golf swing is the ability of your muscles to maintain a fixed spine angle during each swing. If you are lacking muscular strength, the ability to maintain a fixed spine angle will be compromised.

Fourth in our order of merit is endurance. The golf swing is a repetitive athletic movement, meaning you are performing the same athletic action (i.e. the golf swing) over and over again. Repetitive athletic movements over time cause fatigue within the muscular system. Once the muscular system is fatigued (i.e. tired) the ability to perform the intricate biomechanical movements of the golf swing will be compromised.

In order to combat such a situation it is necessary for th
